To reboot your Apple TV, go to Settings > System > Restart. Alternatively, you can hold the Menu and the Home Button on your remote until the front light on the Apple TV starts blinking. You need to release the remote’s two buttons to restart your TV.

Press both the Menu and the Volume Up buttons for a few seconds. This will unpair and pair the remote again to your Apple TV. If this is not solving your problem, you can reboot the TV. This might happen if you have a lot of applications on your Apple TV. The most obvious thing that you can do is delete those apps that are not used much. You can straightaway delete apps from the home screen but individually one by one. If you want to remove multiple apps quickly, go to Setting > General > Manage Storage. You can even sort all your apps according to their sizes. There will be a trash icon beside the app’s name; click it, and the app will be deleted.
