A new year means a new season for our favorite comedy sketch to return. This year, Aubrey Plaza will host SNL as the first host of the new season. Along with her, Sam Smith will also be gracing the stage with his musical performances.
Saturday Night Live season 48th will be commencing on January 21, 2023, and The White Lotus famed actress Aubrey Plaza will take the stage for the very first time. Plaza,38, had her first taste of fame with her deadpan humor character of April Ludgate on the comedy show ‘Parks and Recreation.’
However, her recent big stint was in The White Lotus season 2, which got her nominated for a Golden Globe in December. Aubrey had stated on The Jimmy Kimmel Show that she had formerly interned for the SNL, so she knows what she signed up for. The lineup for the hosts of the first episode of the new year was announced by SNL through an Instagram post.

The Saturday Night Live lineup for the new season was announced on Instagram in a post featuring Aubrey Plaza’s and Sam Smith’s names on the SNL’s signature bulletin board.
According to The Post, Michael B Jordon is also set to host one of the January host lineups. The musical guest accompanying him for the night might be Lil Baby, the rapper. Jordan has been in the news for his directorial debut, Creed III, which is set for a late spring release. Other than that, his last on-screen appearance was in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
As for Saturday Night Live season 48, the show will be going through some major transitions after the exit of some major cast members, like Cecily Strong, Chris Reed, Alex Moffat, and Mellissa Villasenor.
