Code Geass Season 3 | All You Need To Know About Your Favourite Anime!

Related

The anime genre is one of the most entertaining forms of television globally. Animes like Pokemon, Beyblade, Cardcaptor Sakura, etc., have paved the way for many other global successes. Code Geass is another anime from the early 2000s that is still a fan favorite. The hype around the show remains palpable to this day, and fans want to know if Code Geass Season 3 is happening or not.

The show has been on a hiatus for so long that it seems very improbable it will be brought back from the dead. Sometimes, a show’s popularity isn’t enough to justify the production efforts that go behind it.

First released in 2006, ‘Code Geass’ or ‘Kōdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurūshu’ is a manga adaptation anime series. Gorō Taniguchi is the director of the series, and Ichirō Ōkouchi has written it. The show enjoys love from the fans even after almost two decades of release. Unfortunately, though, it doesn’t look likely that there will be a season 3 of Code Geass.

There have been several rumors recently due to a new movie release for Code Geass. Whether that means the new season is in development is a very long shot. Keep on reading to find out more.

Code Geass Season 3 | Is There A Potential For A Reboot?

Code Geass Season 3 | Is There A Potential For A Reboot?

Back in February of 2019, Sunrise Studio, which is responsible for the show’s production, released a movie called Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection. The movie is a part of a trilogy that is released as a new take on the storyline. It made the fans hopeful that if a movie was made, another season might be in the works as well.

All this doesn’t seem likely anymore as the movies follow a new storyline, completely different from the original anime. While most of the characters have remained the same from the show, multiple new storylines have been added. A few new characters have been introduced too. Many of the previous fan-favorite moments from the show have completely been changed or straight up removed from the new story.

Making such blatant changes led to widespread anger from the fans, which is evident from the dismal box office performance of the movies. This closes the door to having season 3 of Code Geass. A reboot of the series might be on the cards, but a continuation from season 2 seems highly unlikely.

There is also no official confirmation from Sunrise Studios or the show director. If anything is planned for a new season, they will be the first to come up with an official word. Until that happens, it’s better not to assume that the show will return.

The Plot Of Code Geass | Invasions And Military Control Over Everyone!

The show remains a fan favorite even after so many years of its last episode being aired because of its captivating storytelling. It shared an original story with a unique approach. At the core of the show was the concept that the entire world is enslaved by one superior military force.

The show’s plot is set in an alternate timeline where a power called the Holy Empire of Britannia is planning to take over the world. They want to rule the world in a pure dictatorial fashion and start first by invading Japan. In retaliation, Japan resisted the military occupation for a long time but eventually succumbed to the onslaughts, thus becoming the first dominion of the Empire of Brittania.

Rivalries run between three major regions in the world. The Holy Empire of Britannia constitutes the Americans, also called Britannia, and is the strongest of the three. The remaining two are the European Union, which comprises Europe and Africa, and the Asian Federation.

The show then moves its focus to Lelouch Lampeouge, the protagonist of the series. He is an ex-member of the Royal Empire and finds himself in a dangerous situation when trapped between the rebel forces and the military regime. His life with the royalty gives him a sense of what happens on the ground, so he wants to thwart the plans of annexations.

The show then explores what motivated Lelouch to rebel against his royalty and many other storylines that connect. The movies acted as a final curtain to the whole series answering all the open questions and closing all the loops. This seems to be a shortcut taken by the producers. However, the fans claim many storylines could continue to another season and maybe beyond.

Official Announcements Surrounding The Release Of Code Geass Season 3!

Official Announcements Surrounding Code Geass Season 3!

There is no announcement yet, Nothing! Not even a peep! Even though the anime has not officially been canceled, the amount of time that has passed since season 2 premiered says enough.

The next best thing for the show would be a reboot, but as the movies tanked at the box office, it is fair to say the fans don’t want the original storyline to be tampered with. The fans have said it is unfair to give a 2-hour conclusion in the form of a movie to a show with 50 episodes worth of storyline.

If a new season were to come, it would already have been announced. It does not make much sense for the showrunners to keep it a secret for so long. The hype generated around the show would have been free marketing for them.
