Illuminati, Darkhold, Book Of Vishanti, and untimely deaths, a lot goes on in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness simultaneously. But how do you keep track of so many things happening simultaneously? Multiverse Of Madness is truly a maddening marvel movie coming from Sam Raimi with a horrific undertone and a gory red color palette. Maddening as it is, Stephen Strange’s weirdest journey yet in the MCU needs a lot of deciphering. So, here we are prepared to discuss Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness spoilers in full detail!
Scarlett Witch Is Literally The Biggest Witch In Doctor Strange 2!
Before WandaVision, who would have ever thought Wanda maximoff would become a villain in Doctor Strange 2? And not any other villain, Scarlet Witch manages to become Stephen Strange’s biggest villain in Multiverse of Madness. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness follows the events of the Disney+ series WandaVision and picks where it left off. After Wanda destroys the hex she created to live with her kids, she uses the powers of Darkhold to hear her kids’ voices in the multiverse.
Wanda uses the powers of Darkhold to stay closer to Billy and Tommy in the alternate universes, but it comes at a price. Darkhold possesses Wanda’s soul and turns her into something she isn’t. Wanda’s soul is corrupted, and when she comes to know of America’s powers, she lets dark creatures after America so she can steal her powers. America’s powers can allow Scarlet to jump freely from reality to another.
America Chavez Is Missing Doppelgangers In Multiverse Of Madness!
With the movie’s onset, one thing was made pretty clear from the beginning. Many alternate universes now exist in Marvel because of the multiverse. And in every alternate universe, there exists an alternate version of you. Be it any character – Wanda, Stephen Strange, Christine, or the Sorcerer Supreme, all of them have doppelgangers in other universes. Well, everyone except America Chavez. During her journey through different universes, America finds only one version of her exists in every universe. This means if she exists on Earth – 616 in the present time, she won’t be on Earth – 838.
While Multiverse Of Madness does not emphasize America’s doppelganger theory, we are sure a lot of secrets will be revealed later in the future. Personally, I believe no doppelganger of America Chavez exists because it can wreak a lot of havoc in the multiverse.
The Powers Of Darkhold Possess Doctor Strange!
Ever since the trailers for Multiverse of Madness came out, there was a lot of teasing about a sinister Stephen Strange and how he gets the Eye of Agamotto. While fighting his evil doppelganger in an alternate universe, Stephen Strange makes a big decision and uses Darkhold to stop Wanda. So, does that mean the evil powers of Darkhold also possess Doctor Strange?
After using Darkhold, Stephen Strange’s soul in Multiverse Of Madness does not corrupt the way everyone expected it to. Everything is going well for him until we see Doctor Strange kneel in pain towards the movie’s end. While kneeling, a third eye appears on Stephen’s forehead, the Eye of Agamotto.
Fantastic Four And Illuminati Make Their Big Marvel Debut!
For almost a decade now, X-Men and Fantastic Four could not appear in Marvel Cinematic Universe because of their acquisition by Fox Studios. Back in 2019, after the rights were given back to Disney, now Multiverse In Madness has taken the initiative to slowly incorporate the heroes into Marvel. In Doctor Strange 2, two very important characters from X-Men were seen making their big Marvel debut.
Founder of the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier, and Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic himself, are seen as members of the Illuminati. To preserve peace on Earth – 838, Doctor Strange created Illuminati, which establishes a connection between X-Men and MCU. They are all killed in a horrifying battle sequence between Illuminati members and Scarlet Witch, and only Mordo survives.
Scarlet Witch Destroys Darkhold & Sacrifices Herself!
If nothing, Elizabeth Olsen’s performance as Scarlet Witch should be a big enough reason for the fans to watch Doctor Strange In Multiverse Of Madness. Olsen’s role in Multiverse Of Madness can easily be credited as one of her best career performances. The satanic witch stops at nothing to be with her boys, Billy and Tommy. However, once she realizes her doppelganger on Earth – 838, will always love the boys, she stops her plans.
By the end of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, Scarlet realized what she had done until now was wrong and caused fear in her kids. She decides to destroy the Darkhold Temple and the book in every dimension so none can use its powers anymore. Wanda delivers one final blow to the temple, destroying the building and bringing an end to herself for the greater good.
At the end of Doctor Strange 2, the multiverse is more or less witnessing the right changes until a mysterious woman (supposedly Clea) makes an appearance in the end-credits scene. Clea takes Doctor Strange with her on a new journey to fix an incursion.
