Peter’s Italian Restaurant | Kitchen Nightmare’s First Italian Downfall!

Related

In recent years, so many restaurants have appeared on Gordon Ramsay’s popular show Kitchen Nightmares that we have lost count. Amongst the many faces was Peter’s Italian Restaurant located in Babylon, New York that caught the attention of many but failed to turn the curious faces into visitors.

Peter’s Italian Restaurant became a popular name not because of its delicious Italian servings but because of Gordon Ramsay. The chef’s popular reality TV series Kitchen Nightmares featured Peter’s as the opening restaurant for season 1. Peter’s is not the first family-owned restaurant to have failed in Gordon’s tests. There are plenty of others who failed to do their job, and even Gordon could not save them from their downfall.

Peter’s Italian Restaurant Closed For Good | Kitchen Nightmares Didn’t Do Them Any Good!

Peter’s was the first business ever to feature on the entertainment show, which means it has to be worthy to set the tone right for the future entries of the series. The Italian restaurant was once a successful business with people coming from different locations to taste their delicacies. Still, as time went on, the Italian heaven was bled dry by Peter Pasta Pellegrino, the owner.

How Peter Pasta’s Negligence Led To The Restaurant’s Downfall?

Rather than spending the money on making his restaurant better, Peter took the money like a gangster and started spending it to build a lavish lifestyle. Had Peter been more interested in treating his restaurant like an asset rather than a cash cow, things would have been better for the family. Even when Peter was supposed to pick Ramsay for the tour, he made the celebrity chef wait for an hour so that he could pick him up in a Mercedes Benz.

Throughout the episode, the employees working at the family restaurant recalled there was a time when things were in a better place, and Peter’s held its head high in the area. Not only his employees but the owner himself admitted that the place was bustling with customers and good reviews in the beginning. The downfall of the Italian empire started when Peter got busy mimicking the Goodfellas and neglected the need for new kitchen equipment.

Gordon Ramsay Saved the Day But Not For A Long Time!

When Ramsay first met the Italian family, he was blown away by their humbleness and hospitality, but it all changed when he stepped into the hellhole, aka Peter’s. The celebrity chef’s real problem lies within the kitchen and not the tables. The lobster ravioli served to him was partially covered in parsley, the crab cake was cold and rotten, and the meat wasn’t fresh. The chef also noticed that if the dishes were to be kept for longer, it would have caused food poisoning, which could land the Peter’s into big trouble.

After several inspections and discussions with the family and the kitchen staff, Gordon came up with multiple strategies to help the restaurant stay afloat. Initially, Peter throws tantrums and refuses to upgrade the kitchen, but when he hears Tina’s decision to close the restaurant, he changes his mind. Gordon Ramsay left the responsibilities in Peter’s hands, but only if he knew what would happen in the future, he wouldn’t have made a mistake.

After the show ended, Peter started to act like a dedicated restaurant owner and introduced many different changes, including the much-needed staff upgrade. However, it was only a matter of time until the so-called gangster would reveal his true colors. In 2008, the Italian restaurant was shut down for good, and all of Gordon’s hopes came crashing down the ground.

Final Words

Peter’s is not the only restaurant to have gone down the hill over the past few years from Kitchen Nightmares. Be it from the lack of efforts or insufficient financial resources, restaurants like Peter’s could not keep up with the trends and were shut down with time.

For me, writing is something that helps me escape from reality for a while. Even though I am an Engineer, I find my comfort from chaos while I write. I love telling people about my stories, stories that play in my mind only. When I am writing, there is no limit to how far I can go swimming in this deep ocean of words. Reading and writing are the two things that help in organizing my messed up thoughts in a formative way. Come along on this journey with me as I write and you read the stories that I have to tell!
