- When you do this, a pop-up will appear that will give you an option of picking up your story type.
- Tap on “New Private Story” from the two options available.
- A list of all your Snapchat friends will appear.
- Tap on the name of the friends you will like to add.
- After that, name your private story. For example, “A’s Private Story”.
- Now you can send private Snap stories to these selected friends only.
And it’s done! You’re free from the annoyingly inquisitive gaze of people!

If you’re wondering what a Snap tab is, then it’s the section of Snapchat from where camera starts.
- By tapping on the circle you can take a photo. Or, press and hold the circle to record a video.

Okay, but how to find out if you’re one of those special people who can view a user’s private story? Oh, and I do not want to spoil the fun. But, I’ve read that if you are on someone’s private story/ close friends’ list, then it’s not like you’re someone too special for them–you’re just non-judgemental. So, they see no harm in sharing their adventures with you.
Anyways, you won’t be notified if and when someone adds you to their private stories and allows you to witness their escapades.
The only way you’ll find out is when you see a purple lock icon on someone’s story. There are different rings that carry different meanings. The purple one with a lock indicates that the story is private and you’re bestowed upon with the honor of seeing it.
