Since taking over the reins of the DC Universe, James Gunn has allegedly made some seriously bad decisions. But here’s his take on the matter. James Gunn’s official statement addressed the ‘outcry’ over planned changes in the DC Universe.
The news about Henry Cavill’s exit from the ‘Superman’ franchise made rounds a few days back. And with that sudden news came the never-ending backlash from fans. The new CEO duo, Peter and Gunn, were shamed for their decision. And just as the storm was about to settle, Dwayne Johnson posted another shocker on his Twitter.
Taking to his official Twitter account, he tweeted, “My passionate friends, I wanted to give you a long-awaited Black Adam update regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe. James and I connected; Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most beneficial ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters”.
Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam bombed at the box office, which led to the production house incurring losses of some hundred Million. So, it is not a surprise that the production of the Black Adam was halted. Some even hinted at a cold war between Dwayne Johnson and James Gunn, but the actor quickly shut down the rumors with yet another statement, “It’s no different now, and I will always root for DC and Marvel to win and WIN BIG.” However, it was very clear that there won’t be any Black Adam sequel in the near future.
James Gunn’s Official Statement Against The Social Media Backlash!

The new CEO, Peter Safran, and James Gunn were not welcomed with open arms by the fans and followers of the DC Universe. Fans showed no mercy for the new duo and wasted no time in criticizing their recent decisions about the new DC Universe.
But there are always two sides to a story, and this case is no different. In an official statement about the matter, James Gunn, the actor-turned-filmmaker, has tried to direct us to his side of the story. In a series of tweets, he explained that “their choices for the DCU are based upon what they believe is the best for the story and best for the DC characters who have been around for nearly 85 years. In another tweet about the same matter, he tweeted that their decisions might be liked by people or might not be ‘great,’ but “they are made with sincere hearts and integrity and always with the story in mind.
Continuing his tweet about the fiasco, he added that the resentment and “disrespectful outcry” they received from a group of people on social media “will never, ever affect their actions.”
In another tweet following the same incident, he wrote, “We were aware there would be a period of turbulence when we took this gig, and we knew we would sometimes have to make difficult and not-so-obvious choices, especially in the wake of the fractious nature of what came before us. But that means little to us compared to our jobs as artists and custodians helping create a wide and wonderful future for DC.”
Yes! We are sad to see our favorite actors go, but a little reinvention hurts nobody. And if people look into it with an open mind, it might not be the worse idea. But, hey! Who knows what Peter and James are about to throw at us next? Stay strong, fam! We can hopefully conquer the worst.
