Thank god that Jordan Peele got to execute what was in his mind, and we got to witness the masterpiece he created in Get Out (2017). Movies like Get Out are rare because they take horror and mystery to a whole new level. It’s not just jump scares and horrific scenes, but the movie is layered and more nuanced.
Many things go into making such a movie, like getting the story right, the theme, tone, and the creative approach. Then comes the acting, the cinematography, and the rest of the movie magic. Without one, the other cannot make the movie a success, and this cannot be more clear in horror movies like Get Out. According to many, Get Out is considered one of the best in the genre in the last few decades. If that doesn’t say something about the movie, I don’t know what does.
6 Psychological Thrilling Movies Like Get Out | Movies That Will Blow Your Mind!

Get Out deals with a lot of issues simultaneously. While primarily a psychological thriller, the movie touches on race, inter-racial couples, and other hot topics. The premise is simple, a mixed couple, Chris and Rose, head to the suburbs to spend the weekend with Rose’s parents. The family gives Chris a warm and over-enthusiastic reaction which seems weird to Chris, but he doesn’t think much of it.
As the movie progresses and the tension builds, Chris realizes the white family in the suburbs is part of a racist cult. They use hypnosis, and other means to ‘capture’ black people, and then other horrific things follow. Get Out is twisted and weird and sometimes funny. Daniel Kaluya’s acting gives you more reasons to empathize with the protagonist, and once you are hooked, you are there till the end.
