1# What Is Squid Game About?

Squid Game Season 2 Cast | Get To Know Them NOW!

Well, unless you’re living underwater or on a faraway island, you already know what Squid Game is about. But, I won’t be (read: I will be) judgemental if you still haven’t watched the Squid Game. But, I sincerely urge (read: insist) you to watch this mind-blowing Korean show ASAP.

In the simplest of terms, Squid Game chronicles the trials and tribulations of a group of people who are facing a severe financial crisis. Then, they are offered a chance to compete in a series of children’s games. If they win, they will get a huge cash prize– ₩45.6 billion (around $38 million in American currency). The money will not only help them clear off their debts, but it will also settle them for their entire life.

But it’s not remotely as easy as it sounds on the surface. Squid Game isn’t a simple children’s game. It’s about surviving lethal childhood games on a deserted, private island that the players will be transported to.

2# What Happened At The End Of Season 1?

Squid Game Season 2 Cast | Get To Know Them NOW!

At the end of season 1 of Squid Game, we saw Gi-hun win the game and transform into an elite, wealthy man. He lost all his allies except one. It was later revealed the other survivor of the show was the mastermind who orchestrated these games in the first place.

Gi-hun acknowledges Sang-woo’s wish– to have his mother taken care of. But then he realizes that the game is still going on. What will Gi-hun do now?

3# Who Will Be There In Season 2? Returning Cast Members??

Squid Game Season 2 Cast | Get To Know Them NOW!

So, we know that most of the characters were killed at the end of Season 1. This implies that there are not going to be many characters from the previous season. Instead, the show is going to be majorly populated by new faces, i.e.the new participants of the game. However, there are still going to be some of the previous cast members.

There are far too many speculations about who is going to be in season 2 of Squid Game. Netflix is holding the details of the show close to its chest. But, I’ve done my research well and gathered some information to help you satiate your curiosity. You must thank me for my services.

The award-winning South Korean actor Lee Jung-Jae will be seen reprising his role as Seong Gi-hun. Well isn’t it pretty evident? Because he was the one to win the game in the previous season. And considering the way season 1 ended, it is imperative that Gi-hun returns.  The mysterious masked villain, the Front Man, played by Lee Byung-hyn, will also return. It’s “possible” that the salesman from season 1, the one who brought contestants to participate in the games–will return too. You can also entertain the possibility of the return of Wi Ha-Joon as Hwang Jun-ho, the Front Man’s cop brother. This is because of the ambiguity of the character’s fate in season 1. Many believe that he may not be dead after all.

Apart from this, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has said (read: teased) that some of the dead characters from the previous season can be seen in the new one in the form of flashbacks. He’s also indicated toward the return of the man in the suit with ddakji. The role is played by Gong Yoo, famously known for his work in Train To Busan. He might be the one to recruit participants in this lethal survival game again. Also, Park Hye-jin might be back as Cho Sang Woo’s mother, and Park Si-wan may return as Kang Cheol.

I understand that this information is not enough. But, you, too, know that only watching the entire season 2 will help in unraveling the mysteries of the cast. On the other hand, you at least got a taste of what is in store for y’all. Be grateful.

4# Who Will Be There In Season 2? Are There Any New Faces??

Squid Game Season 2 Cast | Get To Know Them NOW!

In season 2 of the Squid Game, we will get to see the debut of Young-hee’s boyfriend Cheol-su. In the first season of the show, we were introduced to this large animated doll called Young-hee. Along with her, came the famous Red Light, Green Light, and the Mugunghwa Kkoci Pieot Seumnida song that is associated with her.

And now, Young-hee’s boyfriend Cheol-su is going to be the one to rob people of their beauty sleep. This debutant will keep people tossing and turning in their beds.

5# Who Is The New Villain in Squid Game Season 2?

Squid Game Season 2 Cast | Get To Know Them NOW!

We witnessed the victory of protagonist Seong Gi-hun in the season. Now, what if I tell you that he will be back in Season 2, but as a villain? This will come as a huge surprise, or maybe it won’t. Season 1 ended with a massive cliffhanger: Seong Gi-hun won the game but decided to return and take out the organization that set up these games.

Throughout season 1 Gi-hun displayed his altruistic characteristics and cooperated with other teammates–even the ones who had slim chances of winning. However, by the end of the show, Gi-hun had become someone else– you wouldn’t recognize him.

But you might ask, why all this. Gi-hun had lost all his allies, except one, by the end of the games. The other ally turned out to be the mastermind of the whole set-up. This disclosure didn’t sit well with Gi-hun, who decided to destroy the game. In this way, he becomes the antagonist, the de-facto villain of the show. With his inner self so broken, Gi-hun doesn’t care who he takes down to accomplish his mission.

Now you’d wonder how destroying the games makes Gi-hun a villain. Well, the games–however lethal they may be–aren’t just about individual survival in the game. They are also about surviving against the world that made them compete in the first place. They battled inequality, debt, and problems as such until they got a chance to compete in this game that offered them money that could set them for the rest of their lives. They willingly participated in the game. But, now a wealthy man, Gi-hun is meddling not just with the games but also with their chances of winning. This is what makes him a villain.

When Will Squid Game Season 2 Will Release?

Squid Game Season 2 Cast | Get To Know Them NOW!

The description of plot 2 was far too appealing. However, I’ll have to disappoint you once again. Trust me, I’ve no pleasure in being the bearer of this grim news, but the shooting of Squid Game season 2 hasn’t even commenced yet. It’s going to be a long, excruciating, and painfully long wait before we finally get to see season 2 of this Korean show. To give you an approximate idea, the show is speculated to release in 2023 or 2024.

We waited for over a decade before the creator of the show rolled out Season 1 of the show. So, we can wait for a year or two for season 2 as well. But, I’m sure that the show will be worth the wait.

Until then, you may watch the creepy teaser of Squid Game season 2:
