A dual monitor is an exciting addition to any PC setup, letting users enjoy broader and more detailed images. Setting up multiple displays in Windows 10 is as simple as clicking the “Add” button.

Although it is not always possible to address all of these issues, it is still essential to keep in mind that sometimes, lag issues can affect your gaming experience.

This is why we have compiled various options on how to speed up laptop without having any issues.

Try Doing The Basic Solution

First of all, before you start something new, make sure that you thoroughly check the details. There are some things you should consider prior to doing anything. Restarting your system is the first step to resolving a problem. Also, it can help prevent it from happening again especially if it is only a one time problem.

If the system is experiencing a lag, it may be caused by temporary issues. To fix it, close all the apps and games and reboot.

You can also try changing the connection cords between your monitor and computer. Some connectors work differently than others. For instance, if you’re using an HDMI cable, it might work differently than a standard VGA cable. Try switching the cables to see if the problem goes away. You can also change the cable if it is too old.

Much better to use a shorter cable for optimal performance than a long one. It is also less prone to malfunction. Microsoft has suggested that you try using a Windows key sequence to resolve any issues that might occur. For instance, if the issue occurs when multiple screens are displayed, try holding down the Windows key and clicking the Shift + B key combo.

Always Check The Refresh Rate Of Both Monitors

Using Dual Monitors Slows Down Your Windows Tremendously? Here's The Solution!

Screen stuttering is a common reason for people to complain. It is caused by the screens not having the same refresh rates. The system will get confused if one screen gets faster than the other. This will cause it to display delayed images while you are playing games or watching videos.

Your screen’s refresh rate shows how many times it takes for an image to appear on the screen. If your monitor updates continuously, it will have a 60Hz refresh rate. This is the rate at which images on your screen refresh.

To Fix it, Go to the “Settings” menu and click on “Advanced Display Settings.” In the next window, you can see the monitors that are connected to your computer. To adjust the refresh rate, click on the “Monitor” tab and choose one at a time.

If the issue still occurs, try setting the refresh rate of the two monitors so that one is the multiple of the other. For instance, if one monitor has a refresh rate of 60 Hz, set the other one at 120 Hz.

Always Run A Troubleshooter Hardware

Using Dual Monitors Slows Down Your Windows Tremendously? Here's The Solution!

Sometimes, an unknown hardware issue can cause dual monitor lags. This can be easily resolved by relying on Windows itself. Go to the search bar and type “Troubleshoot”. To find the hardware and devices, type the location, click on it, and follow the on-screen prompts to see if the issue still exists.

Always remember that you can also connect two monitors with different resolutions and refresh rates if you follow the proper connections. However, if the issue is significant enough from each other, then you should probably need an upgrade to a better monitor.

If a monitor has lower specs than the other one, do not try to put it under added pressure with an overclocking program. Another possible cause of dual monitor stuttering is that the hardware is not up to date. Fortunately, most windows update their drivers regularly.

But sometimes, it can not install all the updates correctly. This is why it is better just manually to update the drivers or install them on your own.

Go to the device manager and search for the latest version to update the driver. If there is a new update available, it will automatically install it.

Alternatively, you can also reinstall the driver right after uninstalling it. To remove the driver, go to the Device Manager’s search box and select the monitor you want to remove. After clicking on it, Windows will automatically install the new driver. There are also a variety of apps that can help you keep the latest versions of the driver and monitor.

Try Disabling Your Hardware Acceleration On Your Browser

Using Dual Monitors Slows Down Your Windows Tremendously? Here's The Solution!

As the number of apps and games continues to grow, hardware acceleration is becoming more and more prevalent on computer systems. This feature enables developers to take advantage of the hardware’s capabilities to improve the performance of their games.

One of the most common apps that require more power to work properly is web browsers. By turning off hardware acceleration, they can still perform tasks without consuming their own power. This method eliminates the need for the GPU to handle all the requests.

To turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome, go to the Chrome window and find the three-dotted icon in the upper right-hand corner. There, you can turn off hardware acceleration when it’s available. To turn off hardware acceleration on Firefox, go to the Firefox menu bar and select the option called Hardware Acceleration. Then, remove the checkmark next to Performance Settings.

If you have trouble connecting the monitors correctly, it could cause screen lag and other issues. Windows 10 supports multiple monitors. This makes it easier to connect them to the system.
