Can you believe that the What If storyline was rejected because half of it was already a plot of another Marvel movie? It is tough to believe that, but the proverb “History repeats itself” is coming true with this news.
What If…? is an upcoming Marvel television series that will be released on Disney+ on August 11, 2021. The show is based on the Marvel comic book with the same name and will explore events that occur hypothetically in different timelines connecting the multiverse.
The show includes different stories, such as one shown in its trailer where Peggy Carter becomes Captain America in Steve Rogers and where we see our Avengers turning into zombies. Even though with so many possibilities, there was no chance that one story can interrupt another Marvel project, it happened with one of the show’s storylines and another upcoming Marvel movie.
Recently, the head writer of the series A.C. Bradley was present at the interviews for the upcoming Marvel series, where she revealed how she came to know about the situation and how she dealt with this news. Head onto the complete article below to know everything about the upcoming What If…? series.
The Shocking Reason Why What If Storyline Was Rejected
There are endless possibilities in the number of stories that can be portrayed with Marvel characters, yet there are only a few that made it to the final cut. A lot of stories were dropped, changed, and cut short for season one of the show. One of the What If…? storylines was rejected because of its connection to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 story.
Talking about the episode that would have collided with GOTG 3, Bradleys said that, It took her a few days to understand the characters and what story would go well with them. When she finally got her storyline, she went to Bryan and pitched the entire episode to him. When she finally asked him, “Do you think Kevin Feige would approve?” Bryan replied with “Yeah, he (Kevin) would love that. It’s like half the back plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.”
Ash Bradley also added that many great ideas came to her mind while pitching the show, but they were already destined to be the central idea of the other Marvel projects such as Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder. These ideas included old Steve Rogers along with Professor Hulk and Jane Foster as Thor.
What If…? is set to release internationally after Loki as the events will occur in the right order. With Loki bursting the door of the multiverse wide open, the franchise can easily explore the idea of alternate realities. The upcoming Marvel series is perfect to jump in the timeline with its unique concept of alternate stories in different multiverse timelines.
The upcoming show will witness a lot of stars coming back to voice their characters ?????? However, a few legendary superheroes, including Iron Man and Captain America, aka Steve Rogers, are in the cast.

GOTG 3 is one of the biggest storylines of What If…? was rejected; because of the professional coordination from the production team of the series, a collision between the two upcoming Marvel projects was avoided.
