Plot Of The Inspection (2022) | Struggle Of A Young Gay African American Man!
The story of The Inspection revolves around the character of Ellis French played by Jeremy Pope, a young African American gay man, who gets rejected and turned down by his mother, Inez, played by Gabrielle Union. Not knowing what to do, and how to deal with the emotional trauma, he joins the Marine Corps to escape his reality at home and moves to Paris Island in South Carolina.
After joining the Marine Corps with a heavy heart due to his mother’s refusal he struggled there too. He tries his best to survive in a system that is continuously trying to get rid of him as he is not being able to disguise his sexual orientation. He even had to face condescending and hurtful remarks from the other marines as well at the boot camp.
In time he becomes the main target of their training instructor Leland Laws played by Bokeem Woodbine, who has never been considerate with him and instead has always behaved in an aggressive manner. Among all the chaos and hardship, he does find strength, friendship and comradeship in this new community, which in the end gives him a sense of belonging.
