The Last Dolphin King follows the story of Jose Luis Barbero, a dolphin trainer from Spain, who was one of the top and most popular dolphin trainers in the world. He was in this particular profession for almost 30 years and had a huge fanbase, not only in America as but globally as well. Barbero due to his skill and talent was hired by the esteemed Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta as the Vice-President.

Things took a different turn when a not-so-clear 99-second clip was released online, supposedly showing Barbero mistreating the dolphins that were under his responsibility. Barbero went on to claim that it was not him in the video and that he was a victim of some kind of payback and retaliation by some former employees.

The whole incident got out in the open and several news channels started covering it. There were people who supported the renowned dolphin trainer and there were people who criticized him. During that phase, Barbero received a lot of online hate and also numerous death threats. Everyone was shocked when Barbero mysteriously disappeared as he was nowhere to be found.
