Where Was Mandy Filmed? Let’s Know This Horror Thriller Flick Closely!
The story of Mandy is set in America. But you’d be surprised to know that the actual filming of this movie took place in Europe. The director decided to refrain from filming the outdoor scenes in America since he wanted to film in interesting locations right from the beginning of the project.
As per reports, the director wasn’t able to convince the producers to fund more money into this project. Otherwise, Cosmatos would’ve shot the entire movie in Italy instead of choosing other filming locations.
But nonetheless, the filming locations, which were finalized by the director, turned out to be absolutely brilliant. Plus, Cosmatos also succeeded in adding layers to the premise by using the filming locations strategically, which eventually captivated the critics.
In fact, the filming locations of this horror were one the main factors which contributed to the overall success of the film, in terms of collecting awards and nominations.

So, after Cosmatos and other co-screenplay writers finished writing the script for this project, they started looking for potential filming locations in and around Belgium. After a couple of weeks, the production members were able to identify suitable filming locations in Belgium, especially in Chaudfontaine.
After these locations were selected by Cosmatos, the production members were instructed to scout other shooting locations in England. The other set of filming locations were selected by the crew in and around the city of London.
By the second week of July 2017, Cosmatos and his crew commenced principal photography. The shooting process continued until the third week of August of the same year. The majority of the other outdoor scenes were filmed in Belgium.
Whereas during the second phase of shooting, the remaining outdoor scenes were filmed in England, specifically in London. In fact, after the outdoor shots of the movie were captured, the director thought of shooting the interior scenes in London as well.

Belgium
The opening scene of the movie, where we see the character of Red Miller for the first time, was filmed in Belgium. The outdoor scene of the cabin by the Shadow Mountain was actually filmed in the Belgian province of Liege.
The production members built the wooden cabin from the ground up. A sparsely populated area located on the outskirts of Liege was selected. Since the production members pre-arranged the majority of the logistics, they were able to construct the make-believe cabin in no time.
Other important sequences depicting the cannibalistic biker gang were also filmed around the same province. After these shots were taken, the production members moved to the next filming location.
The remaining outdoor shots of Mandy were filmed in the beautiful Belgian village of Landelies. The scene where the cult leader traps the male and female lead inside a dreary dungeon and tortures them was filmed in the same village.
The final phase of shooting was done in England. The remaining interior scenes of Mandy were filmed in London.

The story of Mandy revolves around an American couple, who are captured and later tortured by a psychotic cult leader. At the beginning of the film, the male lead returns home to his girlfriend, Mandy after finishing his day job at the gas station.
