Where Was The Tutor Filmed? Let’s Know This Crime Thriller Film Closely!
The story of The Tutor is set in the state of New York, yet none of the outdoor scenes of this movie were filmed in this location. As a matter of fact, the interior scenes of The Tutor were also filmed outside of New York.
The production budget of The Tutor wasn’t high enough to sustain shooting around expensive filming locations in New York. So, right at the beginning of this project, the director asked the production members to look for locations within the approved filming budget.
The production members searched for ideal shooting locations in America for a number of months. Finally, the filming crew was able to locate filming locations in Alabama that matched the description of the director.
So, before the shooting process began, Jordan Ross and a couple of other members of his team checked the scouted locations in person. The shooting permits were taken after the main filming locations were approved by the director.
The principal photography of The Tutor began in the first week of October last year. The shooting process continued for one and a half months in total. During this time, the majority of the outdoor shots were filmed in and around Birmingham, Alabama.
Like I mentioned earlier, the production members already arranged the shooting permits before the principal photography began. However, the logistics were arranged at the eleventh hour. After all the outdoor shots were filmed in Birmingham, the remaining interior shots of The Tutor were filmed inside a studio in Montgomery.

The city of Birmingham is an integral part of Jefferson County. This beautiful city is located in the north-central part of Alabama. The opening scene of the film, where we see the character of Ethan Campbell for the first time, was shot in this city.
The production members selected a medium-sized house located on the outskirts of Birmingham and captured the scenes of Ethan’s home. However, before capturing the interior scenes of the lead character’s home, the production members made a lot of changes.
Special lighting equipment was installed inside the property before filming the scenes during the night. Other outdoor scenes of The Tutor were filmed in and around the downtown area of the city.
The scenes where the character of Campbell runs into his former student inside a shop was filmed in the downtown area of Birmingham. The production members filmed this scene inside a vacant shop located in this area.
After all these scenes were captured, the production members moved to another city in Alabama and filmed the remaining interior scenes. By the final week of November 2022, the entire shooting process of The Tutor ended.
