The story of Totally Killer revolves around the character of Jamie Hughes, played by Kiernan Shipka. Jamie is a smart and confident teenager who lives with her mom, Pam, played by Julie Bowen, and dad, Blake, played by Lochlyn Munro. On the night of Halloween, Jamie goes to a concert with her friends while Pam stays at home alone. On the same night, Pam is killed by the “sweet sixteen killers,” who in 1987 killed three teenagers who were 16 years old and were Pam’s friends.

When Jamie returns from the concert, she finds that her mother has been killed in cold blood by the “sweet sixteen killers.” Later in the night, she is attacked by the same killer. While trying to fix Amelia’s time machine, which she made for her school project, Jamie accidentally time travels back to 1987 when the killer first appeared.
