The filming of The Dukes Of Hazzard took place entirely in and around the state of California, except for the series finale which was filmed in Georgia. The makers of the show, however, wanted to shoot in Texas, during the initial stages of pre-production.
When the scouted locations in Texas didn’t match the description of the makers, the creative heads instructed the crew to look for other potential filming locations in California. Soon the production members located a number of places in and around the state of California and then started filming.
The principal photography for season 1 began in the middle of October 1978 and was completed by the first week of December, of the same year. Every other season of The Dukes Of Hazzard which followed took almost 5-6 weeks to complete, as well. California | USA
The pilot season of the series was filmed entirely in and around the city of Santa Clarita. This Californian city is located near the northern region of the Los Angeles state border and is famous for its recreational theme parks. A sparsely populated area near the Vasquez Rock Natural Park was used to depict the fictional town of Hazzard in the series.
Other pivotal outdoor sequences for the other seasons were filmed in different parts of California. The Paramount Ranch located at 2813 Cornell Road, Agoura was used to capture the sequences for season 2. The production members took special shooting permission from the owners of the Ranch, and later extensively filmed the outdoor scenes for the second season.
In order to film the sequences of the Ranch for the other seasons the production members decided to shoot at a different place. Walt Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch, located at 19802 Placerita Canyon Road, Newhall was used from the third season onwards.
A high-speed race car was brought in by the crew, to film the high-flying car chase and race sequences. A stunt driver performed all major car stunt sequences, to ensure the safety of the actors.
All interior sequences of the show were recreated inside a make-believe set constructed by the crew inside Warner Brothers Burbank Studios. A big chunk of the budget was spent on building this set on Stage 20 of the same studio.

A few episodes from season 6 and the entire finale season of The Dukes Of Hazzard were filmed in the state of Georgia. The outdoor sequences for the second last season were captured in and around the suburban city of Conyers.
Whereas the final season was filmed entirely in Atlanta. Most of the outdoor shots were captured near a vacant spot, located on the outskirts of the city. Filming for the final season in Georgia lasted till the first week of January 1985, after which the production members returned back to California.
