The makers of Inside Man were pretty sure of the potential filming locations. Although the major predicament that the production unit faced was while finalizing the shooting dates with the actors. Nonetheless, after the filming schedule was set, the production unit prepared to commence with the shooting in England.
The majority of the filming was done in and around the counties of Surrey and Berkshire, while the remaining sequences were filmed in Hampshire. The principal photography began towards the end of April this year and was completed in 2 months. Surrey | England
The pilot episode of the series, where we are introduced to the character of Harry Watling, was filmed in the county of Surrey. A medium-sized house located near the county town of Guildford was used to portray the house of the clergyman in the series. Additional exterior shots of the neighborhood were filmed to depict the surroundings of Watling’s family home.
Berkshire | England
After filming the establishing scenes of the series, the production unit moved to the Royal County of Berkshire. The sequence where Jefferey is shown to give an interview to Beth while waiting on death row was filmed here. Apart from shooting a few other outdoor shots in Reading, the filming crew also captured some pivotal outdoor shots of Windsor Castle. Special permission had to be taken before filming near this location, but the production unit acquired it seamlessly, with the BBC backing this project.
Hampshire | England
The final location where production arrived was in the southeastern part of England, in the county of Hampshire. The majority of the interior sequences of the series were filmed here. The production unit used Farnborough Film Studios and constructed a make-believe house inside it, to portray the interior area of Harry’s home. The sequence where Harry is shown to murder his wife was filmed inside the set. Special lighting had to be arranged to capture the interior sequence during the night. After the filming process was completed the crew members then began working on post-production.

Plot Of Inside Man | What’s It About
At the very beginning of the series, we are introduced to the character of Harry Watling, a well-respected member of the clergy, who is shown to help Janice, his son’s private tutor, commute from the subway station to his home. Later in the series, Watling finds himself in the middle of a sticky situation as he gets handed over a memory stick containing disturbing videos, that his wife unknowingly unearths.
Midway through the second episode, the backstory of Jefferson Grief, an infamous criminologist is established. The character of Beth, an investigative journalist visits Grief in jail to enquire about the reason for his wife’s murder. Grief explains that he is not in a condition to talk, as his death sentence has been postponed. Although, during this short conversation Jefferson did mention his connection with an English man.
The plot thickens as various other characters emerge in episodes 3 and 4. Eventually, after a heated argument, Rev Watling ends up killing his wife Mary, and lands in the same prison where Grief was waiting for his death sentence. Soon after, Jefferson reveals to Beth his previous connection with Harry, but I won’t spoil the suspense for you. Watch the show, in order to know what happened next!
