He turned out to be a respected factory owner and the mayor of a French town. He also takes care of a woman named Fantine, played by Anne Hathaway, and her daughter, Cosette.

When Javert learns about Valjean’s new life, he decides to hunt him down and bring him back to prison. But it won’t be an easy job to catch Valjean as he is no longer a helpless prisoner.
