Where Was Max Steel Filmed? Let’s Know This Superhero Flick Closely!
The shooting of Max Steel took place in and around the city of Wilmington. To be more specific, the production members of this project, traveled to the state of North Carolina and filmed the majority of the sequences in and around the city of Wilmington.
One can easily confuse this city with the same name as another city that is located in a different state in America. Now that things are clear, let’s get back to the filming locations of Max Steel.
So, as mentioned before, the shooting of Max Steel takes place in and around the city of Wilmington, North Carolina. However, not all the sequences of the movie were captured in this city. The makers of the film also thought of shooting a few sequences elsewhere.
But in order to do that, they asked the production members to scout for ideal filming locations in and around the state of North Carolina. The filming crew, subsequently, scouted around a bunch of potential shooting sites in and around the state.
Finally, the makers of Max Steel agreed to film the remaining sequences of the movie, around New Hanover County.
The principal photography began in the second week of April 2014 and continued till the end of May, of the same year. The production members completed the shooting within the estimated timeline.

The opening sequence of the movie, where we see the character of Max Mcgrath, inside his home was actually filmed in Wilmington. The production members arrange a small-sized although beautiful-looking house, located on the outskirts of the city.
The sequences depicting the family home of Max were then filmed inside this property. In fact, the scenes showcasing Max’s neighborhood were also filmed around the same area, where this house was located.
The production members then moved to a place near Cape Fear Coast. The scene where Max realizes his supernatural ability for the first time in the movie was then captured around this same location.
Additional sequences of the movie were filmed around the downtown area of Wilmington. The filming crew then moved to New Hanover County and shot the remaining sequences.
The second phase of shooting began in Castle Hayne, which is a sparsely populated area of North Carolina. The outdoor sequences of the movie, where the male lead transforms into a superhero, were captured around this census-designated area of North Carolina.
It’s important to mention that the production members also used CGI and VFX to render some awesome-looking action scenes for this film. These scenes were primarily morphed inside a studio, which is located near the business district of Wilmington, NC.
Shooting continued till May 2014, after which the production members wrapped the entire filming process.
