Joel Gales closely followed other blockbuster parody films like Scary Movie, A Space Travesty, and The Bogus Witch before working on this project. As I mentioned before, the director was so thrilled and amazed with the overall concept of parody films that he decided to make Not Another Teen Movie.

It’s also important to mention that Joel was completely against adding any lude scenes in his movie for cheap publicity. But, later on, the script-writers convinced the director not to exclude certain elements which were pivotal to make the overall movie satirical.

Thus, when this comedy film was released in 2001, it received an R rating from the censor board for having a number of scenes with mature content. Not Another Teen Movie managed to gross over $66 million at the box office against the production budget of just $15 million.

The majority of the shooting budget was allocated toward choosing the best filming location. As the story of Not Another Teen Movie is set in California, the directors also thought it would be best to shoot the outdoor scenes in the same location.

A couple of months before the shooting process commenced, the production members searched for perfect filming locations in and around Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Santa Monica. After the main shooting locations were selected, the director asked the crew to look for additional locations in and around other cities in California.

Finally, the principal photography of Not Another Teen Movie commenced in the third week of February 2001 and continued till the final week of April of the same year. As a matter of fact, the film was also released before the end of 2001.

The opening scene of Not Another Teen Movie, where we see the character of Priscila cheerleading for the high school football team, was filmed in Monrovia. The production members filmed the outdoor scenes of the football stadium shown in the movie inside Monrovia High School.

This famous school is located at 845 West Colorado Boulevard, Monrovia. Apart from the sequences of the stadium, the scenes of the patio, hallway, and cafeteria of John Hughes High were also filmed inside Monrovia High School.

The interior scenes of the classroom, however, were filmed inside Verdugo Hills High School, located at 10625 Plainview Avenue, Tujunga. After all these scenes were captured, the production filmed additional scenes near Country Club Drive in Long Beach.

The dance sequence of the prom night was shot inside Park Plaza Hotel, located at 607 South Park View Street, Los Angeles. After all outdoor shots were filmed, the production members moved to Culver City.

The remaining interior scenes of Not Another Teen Movie were then filmed inside Sony Pictures Studio located at 10202 West Washington Boulevard, Culver City.  By the final week of April 2001, the entire filming process of Not Another Teen Movie was completed.

The story of Not Another Teen Movie revolves around a number of stereotypical teenage high school students living a carefree life. At the beginning of the film, the character of Priscilla appears to be in a spiteful mood while arguing with her boyfriend, Jake.

As the story progresses further, the female lead breaks up with her boyfriend and starts dating a timid guy just to make Jake jealous. Shortly after, Priscilla gets into a fight with her new boyfriend, which totally amuses Jake. Meanwhile, another attractive cheerleader starts looking for the lead actor’s attention and eventually asks him out.
