Thus, a separate team was formed to scout for potential filming locations in the states of Maryland and Washington. The production unit later decided to add California to the list of probable shooting sites.

The principal photography began towards the middle of March 2004 and was completed in less than two months. Thankfully, there were no reports of any incidents which adversely impacted the filming schedule. The production unit used The Inn at Perry Cabin, located at 308 Watkins Lane, St. Michaels to capture the exterior shots of the wedding. Filming lasted for about two weeks at this location, as the filming crew captured several other outdoor shots around the town of St. Michaels, before moving to the west coast of America.

Los Angeles | California

The production unit reached the final filming location in California, to capture some pivotal exterior sequences. The scene where John is shown to visit the cemetery and later understand the true meaning of life was shot in Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, located at 1831 W. Washington Blvd, Los Angeles. While the sequence featuring the engagement party was captured inside the Baltimore Hotel, which is located in the downtown area of Los Angeles.

The production unit, then booked the Ren-Mar Studios, located at 846 North Cahuenga Blvd, Hollywood to shoot the majority of the interior sequences of the film. The filming crew constructed a set inside the studio, which was later taken down, after the completion of filming.

The film begins by introducing us to the character of John Beckwith, a goofy young man from Washington D.C., who is shown to mediate nasty divorce cases for a living. He spends the rest of the time trying to court attractive women, by attending random wedding ceremonies, along with his partner, Jeremy Grey.

Later in the film, the character of William Cleary, a high-ranking U.S. government official gets acquainted with John and invites him to a family event in Maryland. The lead actor readily agrees to the request and tags Jeremy with him. But as soon as they reach the venue, Jeremy begins to look for young and single bridesmaids to flirt with, while John attempts to attract Claire, the bride’s sister.

Midway through the film, a substantial amount of drama unfurls, as Jeremy unknowingly invokes true feelings in Gloria’s heart, who later forces him to marry her. Yet, John still struggles to understand Claire’s psyche, and somehow ends up fighting her ex-boyfriend, Sack.

Eventually, John comes back to win Claire’s heart, after realizing his love for her. But things don’t go as planned when Sack decides to get back with Gloria and propose to her while attending Jeremy and Gloria’s wedding. Gloria finally selects John as her right suitor, after he confesses his feelings in front of the crowd. The credits roll as John and Jeremy spend happy moments with their better halves and plan to crash another random wedding.
