The American comedy flick, Blended, released in 2014, showcases the story of two single parents. Who meet at an exotic location in the film, and fall madly in love with each other. Director Frank Coraci casted a number of established actors of Hollywood, who are to be seen playing important roles in the film.

Blended, was a commercial success and earned $128 million in global box office collections. The film upon its release, was rated as an average romantic comedy flick, with a predictable storyline, by the audience and critics. Although, Blended later received a number of nominations, and went on to win the Young Artists Award in 2015!

Plot Of Blended | What’s It About

At the very beginning of the film, we are introduced to the central characters of Jim and Lauren played by Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The two middle aged single parents meet each other at an infamous restaurant in America on a blind date, and end up fighting over petty issues!

Later in the film, Jim goes to Lauren’s house to return her credit card and apologize for his misdemeanor at the restaurant. He discovers his boss’ girlfriend Jen, at Lauren’s place, lamenting over the cancellation of the exotic trip that she was supposed to go on with Dick.

Unbeknownst to each other’s plan, Jim and Lauren both decide to turn up for the paid trip to Africa, on behalf of Jen and Dick. And soon after landing at the location, they find each other sharing the same romantic suite.

A series of funny events brings the lead character close in the film! And on their last day of the trip Jim and Lauren can be seen confessing about their feelings. After returning to America, Jim quickly devises a plan to meet with Lauren. Soon enough he meets her at a baseball game and proposes to her for marriage. The credits roll as Lauren kisses Jim and agrees to marry him.

Where Was Blended Filmed? Let’s Know This Rom-Com Movie Closely!!

Director Frank Coraci along with cinematographer of the film Julio Macat decided to shoot Blended in parts of America and South Africa. The director wanted to film at an actual vacation spot. The sequence of the film which featured scenes in America, were filmed in the state of Georgia. 

The principal photography reportedly began in the summer of 2013 and was completed in 3 months. Let us now explore the exact filming locations of the comedy drama film, Blended.

Georgia, USA

The opening scene in the film, where Jim and Laurence meet each other for the first time, was filmed in the city of Lawrenceville. An actual “Hooters” restaurant was used to film the restaurant scene. The production unit bought out the place for 2 days, to film the sequence. As they didn’t want disturbance while shooting.

The filming crew then arrived at the city of Buford in Gwinnett and Hall County. Sequences which featured Jim’s workplace in the mall were filmed here. The production unit inorder to portray the sports goods store shown in the film, had to arrange a vacant store with sports equipment. Other outdoor scenes of the Lake Lanier Resort shown in the film, were also filmed here.

The last scene where Lauren is shown to accept Jim’s marriage proposal, was filmed in Flowery Branch city in Georgia. Located at 6262 Chestnut Hill Rd, a small baseball was acquired by the production unit to portray the Little League Baseball field, in the film.

Blended Filming Locations In South Africa

The filming crew, after completing the shooting in America, arrived at the international filming location in South Africa. Majority of the sequences which featured the family vacation spot in the film, were shot at Sun City Resort. This luxurious property is located in the North West Province of South Africa. 

The production unit was stationed at this place for around 3 weeks. Special arrangements had to be made before filming the indoor and outdoor scenes at this resort. The administrative body of the luxurious property were courteous enough to ascertain the privacy of the actors, and crew members.

Here are a couple places that you should definitely look up, such as Capetown, Johannesburg, Kruger National Park, Durban, Stellenbosch, and Pretoria that are equally sought after by tourists traveling to South Africa.
