The story of Deep Water is set in the fictional town of Little Wesley. However, the shooting of this movie took place in and around the southern state of Louisiana. However, Adrian didn’t think of shooting this film in Louisiana, in the initial stage of pre-production.
After the director acquired the shooting rights for the film, he initially thought of shooting this film around various parts of California. But, when the production members couldn’t acquire the required permission in time, Adrian was compelled to change the filming locations.
The director then asked the production members to scout for ideal shooting sites in and around the state of Louisiana. Finally, after conferring with other heads of the team, the director arrived at the final conclusion to film Deep Water in Louisiana.
The principal photography began in the first week of November 2019 and continued till the second week of January 2020. But unfortunately, even though the filming was completed within the estimated timeline, the production suffered a huge loss because of the delayed release.
Like most other films shot during the same timeline, the release of Deep Water was delayed for several years, due to the onset of Covid 19. But, as the shooting of the movie was completed before the global lockdown, the makers thought of releasing the film digitally, instead of the traditional movie theaters.

The opening sequence of the movie, where we see the character of Melinda, inside her luxurious home in Little Wesley, was actually filmed in the city of New Orleans. The production members arranged a modern mansion, located near one of the most expensive areas of New Orleans.
No major changes had to be made to the overall decor of the property, as it already had most of the modern and luxurious amenities. The interior sequences of Vic and Melinda’s home were filmed there.
Other pivotal sequences of the movie, where we see the character of Melinda indulging herself in promiscuous activities, were also captured around the Lower Garden District of New Orleans.
However, in order to capture the sequences of the police station, the production members had to turn around a vacant commercial building and make it look like the New Orleans Police Department. Special shooting permission had to be taken before filming action scenes with ammunition and arms.
The ending scene of the film was captured near a sparsely populated area of New Orleans, which is located on the outskirts of the city. The filming crew then finally wrapped the entire shooting process and began working on other areas of production.
