Where Jamie Fox and Christoph Waltz undertake a relaxed horseback journey from Texas to Tennessee, well, the scenes were originally planned to be filmed in the mountain region of Mammoth, which is located in California. But the production unit had to change its plans due to the lack of snow.

As an alternative, the production team decided to shoot the scenes in the Jackson Hole valley in Wyoming, just close to the Idaho border. The scenes were filmed in and around the huge natural reserve of Grand Teton National Park. The scene where Fox takes a refreshing bath was shot in Kelly Warm Springs.

Other scenes in Wyoming were shot in The Bar BC Ranch and the National Elk Refuge, which is basically a wildlife reserve territory for elks and is located at East Broadway Avenue near  Jackson Hole.

The house that you see in the movie is at Gatlinburg, which is actually a mountain resort city in Sevier County. Tarantino along with his team shot major sequences in the southern state of Louisiana. An ideal large country house within the Evergreen Plantation which we witness in the film, where Calvin J Candi, Leonardo DiCaprio’s character resides.

The iconic country house was built in 1790, the plantation complex is situated in Edgar near Wallace. As in real life, it was not an actual cotton plantation, the production unit had to grow Fava Bean plants wrapped with artificially strung cotton.
