Where Was Little Rascals Filmed? Let’s Know This Hysterical Flick Closely!
Working with young actors has always been way harder than managing and working with adult actors. However, Penelope Spheeris flawlessly managed the young talents and allowed them to give their best on-screen performance in this film.
So, during the initial stage of pre-production, the director invested most of her time, perfecting the script and auditioning young talents for the supporting and lead roles. Yet, Penelope successfully managed her time and also looked for perfect filming locations in America.
Later, the director asked the production members to scout for ideal shooting locations in and around the state of California. After acquiring the list of potential filming sites from the crew, the director decided to check for herself and visit the locations in person.
Penelope formed a special team consisting of 7 members and minutely checked the overall setting of the potential shooting sites, and then finally instructed the members to begin shooting.
The principal photography began in the second week of January 1994 and continued till the first week of April, of the same year. Important to mention that, the majority of the sequences were captured in and around the city of Los Angeles. While some minor scenes of the movie were filmed in Pasadena.
The filming schedule got slightly delayed, due to the mismanagement of the production. However, the filming crew later picked up the pace and successfully completed shooting within the estimated timeline.

The opening sequence of the movie, where we see a bunch of American kids, playing on the sidewalk, was actually captured in Los Angeles. The production members took special shooting permission from the D.A.’s office, before capturing the outdoor sequences near a busy street in L.A.
Other pivotal sequences of the film were shot near North Hollywood and the downtown area of Los Angeles. The famous firehouse scene of the movie was captured inside a real fire station located at 5320 Tujunga Avenue, North Hollywood.
However, in order to capture the sequences of the “clubhouse”, the production members traveled to a place located near Figueroa Terrace. Surprisingly, the location was so perfect, that the director asked the production members to capture the sequences depicting the neighborhood of the kids, in the same place.
Filming in Los Angeles continued till the third week of March 1994, after which the production members moved to the next filming location in California. The remaining sequences of the movie were then captured around the neighborhood of Venice. The entire shooting process was then wrapped by the first week of April 1994.
