The makers of 50 First Dates wanted to shoot on location. Thus, after the cast members were selected, the director asked the production members to scout beautiful filming locations in and around Hawaii.
A bunch of places in the beautiful location of Hawaii were then scouted. Peter Segal visited the potential shooting sites in person and decided to shoot the majority of the film there.
Important to mention that, other creative heads of the unit later advised Segal to film some sequences in California. So, a few pivotal sequences of the film, along with almost all the major interior sequences were filmed in the state of California.
The principal photography began in the third week of March and continued till the end of May, of the same year. The production members didn’t face any major issues while shooting and the filming schedule remained unchanged, for the most part.

Other pivotal scenes in Hawaii were captured in Kualoa Ranch, which is situated at 49560 Kamehameha Highway, Oahu. The scenes showcasing the first meeting of the male lead with Lucy Whitmore in the movie were filmed here.
The production members then moved to Dillingham Estate, located at 68434 Farrington Highway, O’ahu to capture the last sequence in Hawaii. Filming in Hawaii lasted till the third week of April 2003 and the remaining portion of the movie was then shot in California.
