A couple of weeks later, the main filming locations in North Carolina were selected. By the second week of July 1985, the principal photography of Maximum Overdrive began. The shooting process continued for one and a half months in total. 

But before the shooting process began, the production members made sure to arrange all the logistics. Even the filming permits were taken in advance to make sure the shooting process is not affected later on.

During the entire course of shooting, Stephen made sure to supervise the majority of the processes. After all the outdoor shots were captured, the production members also filmed the remaining interior scenes in North Carolina.

The interior scenes of Maximum Overdrive were shot inside Screen Gems Studio, located at 1223 North 23rd St, Wilmington. By the first week of June 1985, the shooting process of Maximum Overdrive was over.
