Columbus checked those locations in person and then instructed his crew to commence filming. The principal photography of Mrs. Doubtfire began in the third week of March 1993 and was completed by the first week of July of the same year.

Since Columbus hoped to release the film in the same year, right after the shooting process was completed, he began working on the promotion along with his team.

The production members used a small-sized house located near the Bay area of San Francisco and filmed this interior scene. In fact, the sequence where the lead actor appears to be visiting a doctor was also filmed around the same location, however, in a different property.

Other pivotal scenes in San Francisco were captured near Jamestown Avenue and North Beach Campus. The sequence where Daniel sneakily meets with his children was filmed inside Hancock School, located at 940 Filbert Street, San Francisco.

After these sequences were shot, the production members moved to the next shooting location.

In the second half of the movie, where we see the lead character disguised as an English governess, were in and around Redwood City.

In fact, the sequence of the courtroom in the movie was also filmed in the same city. To be more specific, the production members captured this scene inside the San Mateo County History Museum located at 2200 Broadway, Redwood City.

Finally, the ending sequence of Mrs. Doubtfire was captured in Berkeley, after which the shooting process ended.
