Where Was On My Block Filmed? Let’s Know This Teenage Drama Series Closely!
The filming of On My Block took place in and around various locations of California, throughout the four successful seasons of the show. This is exactly what the makers planned, during the initial stages of pre-production in 2018.
While Lauren was working to build the narrative of the show, along with his two other partners. He asked the production members to scout for perfect filming locations around various cities in California. As the story of On My Block is set in a Californian city, the makers wanted the shooting locations to be perfect and have a backdrop that represented the West Coast.
After several weeks, the crew came up with a list of potential locations around the city of Burbank and submitted the list. The makers reviewed the locations and selected a few, but also added a couple of locations, which they scouted.
Important to mention that, the majority of the sequences from the pilot season of the show, were captured in and around the city of Los Angeles. Whereas the sequences from the finale season were filmed in Burbank.
The principal photography for the first season began in the summer of 2018 and lasted for 6 weeks or so. As the production members only had to capture the sequences of 10 short episodes, they finished the shooting process pretty quickly. However, the other seasons took considerably longer to film. It wasn’t because of the number of episodes which the production members had to film extra, but due to a major incident that took place on set during filming.

The opening sequence of the show, where we see the group of teenagers, chilling inside one of their friends’ places, was actually filmed in Los Angeles. The production members arranged a medium-sized modern-looking house located in the south-central area of Los Angeles.
But before filming the interior sequences, the production members had to spend a considerable amount of time in turning around the overall decor of the property. Other important sequences of the show, depicting the neighborhood where the lead actors are shown to spend most of their time, were captured around the same area of L.A.
In order to capture the sequences of the high school, the production members took special shooting permission from the authorities of a private school located near the downtown area of Los Angeles. The school authorities allowed the crew to shoot inside the classrooms but barred them from infringing the privacy of the actual faculties and students.
Additional sequences of the show were captured around various parts of the city, for seasons 2 and 3 as well. The episodes where we see one of the lead characters indulging in criminal gang activities were filmed on the outskirts of Los Angeles.
Burbank, California | USA
The fourth season of On My Block was filmed in Burbank. The production members turned around a vacant commercial space, located near Burbank Town Center, and made it look like a trap house.
The sequences where we see the L.A.P.D. searching the house of one of the lead characters were captured around the trap house, which the crew constructed from the ground up.
Other important sequences were captured near Stough Canyon Nature Center in Burbank. The production members then wrapped the entire shooting process for the final season and returned to Los Angeles.

The basic premise of On My Block is centered around the characters of Monse, Ruby, Jamal, and Cesar, four best friends, who live in the same neighborhood of Los Angeles. At the beginning of the show, these characters are shown to have fun and banter around like any other adolescent teenager.
But with each passing episode, the characters get darker. The challenges which these teenagers face while growing up in Los Angeles are vividly depicted. Towards the middle of the series one of the characters inducts himself into a violent gang, which jeopardizes the lives of three other friends too.
