Where Was Fauda Filmed? Let’s Know This Intense Action Series Closely!
The makers of Fauda wanted to shoot the series on location, right from the initial days of pre-productions. Thus, after tweaking the script, Raz and Avi both started scouting for ideal filming locations in and around Israel.
The duo then finally arrived at the conclusion to shoot the first season of the show in Kafr Qassem. The main reason for the makers to choose this hill-top city as the primary shooting location is as it was well connected with other major cities and had a beautiful backdrop.
A few sequences from the other seasons of Fauda were also filmed here. However, the majority of the filming took place in the Gaza Strip, for the seasons that followed.
The principal photography began in the summer of 2014 and continued for 8 weeks. Coincidentally, during the course of filming the Israel-Gaza conflict started. This incident forced the makers to stop filming for a couple of weeks. But, thankfully the locals of the hilltop city helped the makers to continue filming without any interruptions.
So, without waiting any longer, let’s have a detailed discussion about where was Fauda filmed and find out more about the specific shooting spots.
Kafr Qassem | Israel
The opening sequence of the pilot episode, where we see the character of Doron for the first time, was actually filmed in Kafr Qassem. This beautiful city is located 12 miles east of Tel Aviv, on top of a hill.
The production members arranged a medium-sized house to capture the exterior shots of the lead actor’s family home. A vacant building near the same location in Kafr Qasim was reportedly used to film the scenes of the anti-terrorist base quarter.
Other pivotal sequences from the first season of Fauda, were filmed in several areas of the West Bank as well. But, important to mention that, the production members had to acquire high-security clearance from the government before capturing the sequences in the West Bank.
Gaza Strip | Gaza
So after the sequences of the first two seasons of Fauda were filmed in Kafr Qassem. The production members arrived in Gaza, to film the third and fourth seasons. The principal photography for the third season began in the second week of February 2019.
The production members ran into a major problem before the filming could begin in Gaza. The dummy arms and ammunition required for the show were confiscated at first. The legal team then had to intervene and retrieve the confiscated goods. This incident majorly delayed the shooting schedule.
However, after everything was settled, filming began in the Gaza Strip. The production members captured several outdoor shots during the day. Government officials strictly barred the crew from shooting any sequences after sunset, for various reasons.
Filming in Gaza lasted for 7 weeks or so, after which the production members returned to Israel and captured the interior sequences inside a well-equipped studio.
