Where Was Sam And Kate Filmed? Let’s Know This Romantic Drama Film Closely!

The makers of Sam & Kate had a considerably lower production budget to work with, compared to the budget of other romantic films, released in the same year. So, after Darren finished working on the script, he began looking for perfect filming locations in various parts of America.

The director then asked the production members to scout for potential shooting locations, across the states of North Carolina and Georgia. But after visiting them in person, Darren finally decided to shoot his entire film in and around the state of Georgia.

Important to mention that, the majority of the shooting took place in Thomasville, while some sequences of the movie were later captured in Atlanta as well. The filming tax credit received from the state government of Georgia, really helped Darren to utilize the finances efficiently.

The principal photography commenced in the starting week of September last year and continued till the end of October. As per reports, the shooting schedule wasn’t delayed, as there were no major issues faced by the crew during the course of filming. The members managed to stay on top of the filming dates, mostly.

Thomasville, Georgia | USA 

The opening sequence of the movie where we see the character of Sam, for the first time, was actually filmed in the city of Thomasville. In order to capture the exterior shots of Sam’s family home, the production members used a medium-sized home located near the Lapham Patterson house.

The outer structure of the house was turned around by the production members, before capturing the sequences of Sam’s home and neighborhood. On the other hand, the interior settings of the residential property weren’t altered at all. Darren wanted to capture the same look which the house already had.

Other pivotal sequences in Thomasville were captured near The Big Oak and Cherokee Lake Park. The scenes depicting the meeting of Sam and Kate for the first time were captured in the same park. The production members had to use special lighting equipment, for filming this sequence during the evening. 

After filming some other scenes in Thomasville, the production members then moved to the next shooting location in Georgia.

Atlanta, Georgia | USA

The majority of the filming took place in and around the city of Thomasville. Thus after capturing the important sequences the production members moved to Atlanta. The sequences depicting Sam’s former corporate office were captured in downtown Atlanta.

The production members turned around a vacant office space, to make it look like a corporate office. Special permission had to be acquired from the owner of the property before making any changes. The interior sequences depicting the former corporate job of the male lead were then filmed.

Filming in Atlanta lasted till the end of October 2022, after which the production members wrapped the entire shooting process, and began working on the promotion of the movie.

As mentioned earlier, the basic premise of Sam & Kate revolves around the character of Sam, a middle-aged, who resigns from his job to take care of his ailing father. At the beginning of the movie, Sam appears live all by himself, inside an apartment in Atlanta.

But, as the story progresses further, the lead actor receives the news of his father’s ailing condition. Sam quickly consults the physician and takes note of his father’s declining health condition. The lead actor eventually returns back to his hometown, to spend more time with his father.
