The production members took special permission from the owners of the commercial building before making changes to the exterior appearance of the building.
In fact, a lot of changes were made to the interior look of the building as well to make it look like a publishing house. After all these shots were captured, the production members filmed some other outdoor scenes near 41 Rue de Belat, Angouleme. All outdoor scenes of The French Dispatch were captured by the final week of March 2019, after which the production members moved to America.
