So, to deliver more realism to my imagination, I read about the filming location of these films and hope that I get to recreate the same situations. And, if you’re someone like me, you too need to know where was The Good Son filmed

Here’s a disclaimer: people will judge us for what we imagine. And, as much as it may hurt you initially, just let them judge you all they want! They will never understand the euphoria we feel while watching suspense thrillers. They will probably never get to experience the adrenaline rush that only thriller movies can provide. So, pity them, for they are missing out on one of the most wondrous things in life.

Anyways, The Good Son was filmed across the United States and in the UK. A part of the film was lensed in Manchester. Apart from that, the production unit shot parts of the movie in Newington, Mirror Lake Road, Massachusetts, and Lake Superior!

Now you know where was The Good Son filmed? No? Well, obviously, you don’t! How can anyone ever be happy with such a short and clipped answer?! But don’t you worry! Just keep scrolling through, and you’ll get a detailed answer to your question!

The Plot Of The Good Son | What Is The Good Son About?

Have you ever been in a situation where you were telling the truth, and people simply refused to believe it? Have you ever alerted someone of a forthcoming danger, but they dismissed your concerns or declared them invalid? If yes, then you will probably relate to the protagonist of The Good Son, Mark Evans.

Mark is a 12-year-old boy who is still grieving the loss of his mother, Janice. Since Mark’s father has to go on a business trip to Japan, he leaves him at his aunt Susan’s home in Maine. Despite not meeting his extended family for over ten years, Mark quickly befriends his cousins Henry (played by Macaulay Culkin, actor in Home Alone movies) and Connie (Quinn Culkin).

Initially, Mark and Henry get along quite well. Mark thinks that Henry is a decent, well-mannered boy. Nothing could be further from the truth, though. Henry has a morbid fascination with death that Mark finds to be disturbing. He tries coveying the same to aunt Susan and his grief counselor, but they don’t take him seriously. Instead, they think that Mark is psychologically disturbed!

Henry has caused significant damage before. Now, he’s planning to kill his sister Connie. Nobody believes Mark even though he warns people about what might happen. One night, Mark sleeps with Connie to protect her, only to wake up and find that Henry has taken her ice skating.

This is where scenes involving Henry’s house were filmed. Okay, I know I said that Henry lives in Maine. And that is where Mark, who is originally from Arizona, comes to spend his winter break while his father is on a business trip.

But, the production unit chose Manchester to do the filming bit. The reasons for this are unclear as of now. Maybe filming in Machester was more convenient for them? Anyways, if and when you visit this place, don’t forget to check out Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester Cathedral, and Imperial War Museum North. These are some of the best tourist attractions in the place!

Bridgewater St. Annisquam

Bridgewater St. Annisquam is where the dog chase scene was filmed. Here, we get to see a ferocious-looking dog running behind Henry and Mark on a wooden bridge. If you wish to visit St. Annisquam bridge, all you need to know is that it is built over Lobster Cove and is located at Bridgewater Street in Massachusetts.

Also, while you’re in Massachusetts, make sure to visit the Museum of Fine Arts, Fenway Park, and Museum of Science! Apart from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the state is quite popular for these places as well!

Newington

Okay, so we already know that Henry is the psychologically disturbed one and not Mark. In a particular scene, Henry pushes a dummy off a highway just because he wanted to experience the thrill of killing someone. The dummy caused several vehicles to collide and pile up on one another. And this wasn’t even the first time Henry had caused massive destruction.

But, this singular incident made Mark realize what Henry could do. And it made him desperate to tell aunt Susan the entire truth about Henry, her good son. The highway scene was filmed at Mcintyre Road. To be more particular, it happened at the Arboretum Dr. overpass. If you ever happen to be here, just look down from the overpass, and you’ll get a good idea about how the scene must have been shot.

Mirror Lake Road

As soon as Mark finds out that Henry is planning to kill Connie, he becomes protective of her. One particular night, he even has to sleep in Connie’s room, just to watch over her. But, when he wakes up, he finds out that Henry has already taken Connie ice skating.

The ice-skating scenes– the accident and everything else were filmed on Mirror Lake Road.

Lake Superior

The climax scene of The Good Son was filmed at Lake Superior. I’m sure you already know all about it this place. And, for those of you who don’t know: Lake Superior is located in North America, and it is the largest freshwater lake in the world.

I wish I could tell you exactly what scenes were filmed here, but I don’t want to spoil the climax! Nothing is worse than receiving a spoiler for the climax scene of a thriller film!! But, hats off to the production team for choosing a grand place like this for filming the movie’s closing scene!
