Thus, right after the cast was selected, director Phillips began looking for idyllic potential filming locations in America.
Soon a number of places were shortlisted, amongst which a handful of sites in the state of New York and New Jersey were finalized. The majority of the filming took place on the beautiful East-Coast of America. The principal photography began towards the middle of September 2018 and was completed within 3 months. Not a great number of challenges were faced by the crew while capturing the sequences, the unit managed to stay on top of the filming schedule, for the most part. Other notable scenes were filmed in Kensington, specifically at Church Avenue Station. The filming crew had to arrange special filming permission from the authorities of the subway station to film this interior sequence. However, to film another sequence at one of the metro stations, the crew used a different station located at Sunset Park.
A few more pivotal outdoor shots were captured in the Bronx area of New York. During filming these sequences one of the actors got injured, but thankfully recovered later.

Loew’s Jersey Theatre located in the heart of Jersey City, was used by the production unit to shoot sequences featuring the crime alley in the film. Other exterior shots depicting the change of Arthur’s character were captured at the Paramount Theatre, which is also situated in Jersey City.
Then finally the production unit moved to a renowned studio, to finish filming the interior sequences. A make-believe set was constructed by the crew on a well-equipped sound stage, where the scenes of Murray’s talk-show were filmed.
