Soon, the team came up with a bunch of locations in New Jersey that could be used for shooting. However, the unit also decided to add Philadelphia to the list of probable filming locations. The principal photography began in the first month of 2008 and was completed in just two months. 

The filming schedule got delayed for one and a half weeks, as Rourke got injured while performing one of the stunt sequences. The opening sequence of the film, where we see Robin preparing breakfast inside his trailer, was filmed in Monmouth County. The production unit went to the trailer park area in Hazlet township, to capture the exterior shots of the mobile homes. A few other sequences were filmed in Mieleville Home Park before the production unit moved to the city of Linden.

The sequence in which Robin is shown to meet with his daughter, Stephanie, was filmed at 1230 East Linden Avenue. A small apartment located on the outskirts of the city was used to depict Stephanie’s home in the film. However, the scene in which the lead actor appears to fight with Tommy Rotten for a promotional event was captured at Hasbrouck Heights.

A few other scenes, such as the sequence of the bar, was filmed at Frenchy’s Bar & Grill located at Roselle Park. The production unit booked the entire place for two days, to film the interior sequence. Then the crew reached Dover Ballroom, situated in Morris County to shoot the final scene of the film.

Soon the unit came in contact with the owners of a renowned studio in Philadelphia that had a number of sound stages. The interior sequences were then filmed there after the production booked the studio for two straight weeks. Few outdoor shots in the downtown area of Philly were taken before the entire filming process was wrapped up.

The film opens by acquainting us with the lead character, Robin Ramzinski, a professional wrestler based in New Jersey. The male lead works in a local deli to make his ends meet. Robin’s previous achievements in wrestling did help him to appear for promotional events during the weekends, but the payments of the intermittent shows were not enough to financially support him.

Later in the film, Robin “The Ram” meets with a fight promoter, who promises him that his career in show-biz is not over yet. Although, after taking a considerable amount from Robin, the promoter dupes him and disappears. Frustrated with the unfortunate events of his life, the male lead heads straight to a bar and gets acquainted with Cassidy.

Midway through the film, Robin and Cassidy develop a close relationship, as the lead actor opens up to her about his turbulent relationship with his daughter, Stephanie. Soon, after mustering up a lot of courage, Ramzinski goes to meet with his estranged daughter and apologizes for estranging her. Stephanie, furiously chases her father from her apartment, expressing her anger and dissent.

In the final quarter of the film, Robin finally gets a shot to appear in a wrestling main event. Delighted to learn about the news that he’d finally be able to do what he does best, “The Ram” prepares himself for the big fight. Ramzinki spends half of the day training at the gym and refrains from taking any performance-enhancing drugs. The fight night approaches, and the lead actor eventually makes his way to the ring.
