Thus, the makers of Three Wise Men and a Baby also decided to follow the same tradition and shot the majority of the film in Vancouver, British Columbia. The lucrative filming tax credit (35%) offered there could be one of the reasons for the production unit to choose Vancouver as the primary filming location. Apart from capturing the gorgeous and scenic backdrop of the seaport city.

Thus, after finalizing the shooting locations in Vancouver and Toronto the principal photography began towards the beginning of September this year. The crew took almost one and a half months to complete the entire filming process.

Vancouver | British Columbia

The opening scene of the film, where we see Barbara Brennan living in the city of Charlotte in North Carolina, was in reality filmed in Vancouver. A medium sized house located in the posh-neighborhood of Vancouver was used to depict the Brennan’s family home. The production unit, apart from making minor adjustments to the front of the house, did not make any structural changes. The crew extensively captured the exterior shots of the house and then moved to the other part of this lively city to film the remaining sequences.

The fire-brigade office, in which Luke finds the baby in the film, was actually shot inside a studio. However the unit took outdoor shots of an actual fire-department to depict the same in the film. The interior sequence of the Brennan brother’s home was captured inside a renowned studio located in the downtown area of Vancouver.

Toronto | Ontario

Before the production unit arrived at Toronto, the filming had to be stopped for a couple of weeks. As mentioned earlier, the baby fell sick during the filming in Vancouver. Thus after the health of the infant significantly recovered the filming resumed. The final sequence of the film in which Barbara eventually takes the baby to her sister’s home, was filmed in Toronto. A few other establishing scenes were captured here, after which the filming was completed.

Plot Of Three Wise Men And A Baby What’s It About

The film begins by acquainting us with the character of Barbara, a single mother living with three adult sons in a medium sized home in Charlotte, North Carolina. Luke, the eldest of the sons, gets involved into a heated argument with his younger brother, Stephan and storms out of the house. Soon after, Taylor, the youngest of the Brennan brothers, reaches out to Luke at his office in the local fire brigade and convinces him to return.

Midway through the film, the rift between the Brennan brothers becomes apparent, as Barbara confronts her adult sons about it. She then declares her decision to spend Christmas at sister’s place, leaving the brothers with no choice, but to manage staying together. However, one day the lead actor finds an abandoned baby in a cradle, at his office. 

Bewildered at first, Luke eventually decides to bring Thomas home complying to the instructions left in the note. Although, with his Barbara now gone for Christmas, he is forced to ask his siblings for help.
