Where Was White Noise Filmed? Let’s Know This Drama Flick Closely!

As the makers of White Noise wanted to showcase the life events of a typical American family, they decided to shoot the film entirely in America. During the early stages of pre-production, a special team was sent to scout for ideal filming locations in and around the state of Ohio. 

Noah was more than satisfied with the overall look of the identified shooting locations and eventually decided to capture the majority of the sequences in Ohio. Although, the director also added a couple of locations in California to the existing list of shooting locations and later filmed minor scenes there.

The principal photography began in the summer of 2021 and continued till the first month of 2022. The filming schedule had to be extended as the filming permissions were not acquired in time, and reportedly the production members also struggled to pre-arrange the logistics. The production unit had to face minor predicaments, during the course of the entire filming process. Cleveland, Wellington, Ohio | USA

The majority of the shooting of White Noise was done in the beautiful city of Cleveland, Ohio. The opening scene of the movie, depicting the East Bank of the Flats was captured on the outskirts of the city. In order to capture the exterior shots of the professor’s family home, the crew scouted a medium-sized house, located in the suburbs of Cleveland. 

The same house was later turned around by the crew in no time, particularly changing the exterior design and paint of the house. The interiors, however, were kept the same, as it was perfect to depict a dingy and shabby look as director Noah wanted.

After the sequences of the professor’s family home were captured, the production members then moved to the city of Wellington. The outdoor shots of the storefronts shown in the film were then captured after making minor adjustments to the structure. Sequences depicting the altercation of the professor with one of the vendors of a supermarket were also filmed in the downtown area of Wellington. 

The crew then filmed some other pivotal sequences in Canton and Berea in Ohio, showcasing Baldwin Wallace University. The remaining final sequence of the movie was captured in the next filming location.

San Francisco, California, USA

In order to capture the ending sequence of White Noise, the filming crew arrived in the city of San Francisco. The final scene was captured around the Bay Area of San Francisco, within a week. Special lighting equipment and cameras were used to shoot this dramatic sequence. A renowned studio, with state-of-the-art sound stages, was later used for filming the remaining interior sequences of White Noise.

Plot Of White Noise | What’s It About

The story of White Noise is centered around the character of Jack, a delusional scholar at a university in Georgia, and his dysfunctional family. At the very beginning of the film, the degrading mental health of the professor becomes apparent, when he engages in a nonsensical argument with his wife.

Later, in the film, the back story of Jack’s early life is shown, depicting the traumatic events that shaped his peculiar character. Although, the lead actor makes considerable efforts to win the respect and love of his family by making small efforts.
