Famous comedy actor, Ashton Kutcher can be seen playing the lead role in Aline Brosh Mckenna’s light-hearted movie.  As per the reports, McKenna reworked one of her previous scripts and used it for the main screenplay for this movie. 

The basic premise of Your Place or Mine revolves around the characters of Debbie and Peter, two age-old pals, who support each other’s lives. The story gets interesting when the male lead decides to do away with his low-wage and undervalued job to take care of Debbie’s tumultuous life.

The makers of Your Place or Mine are satisfied with the critical reception that this romantic film received. Of course, it’s too early to make a statement on the commercial success of the movie, as it has barely been two days since its release.

Where Was Your Place Or Mine Filmed? Let’s Know This Romantic Flick Closely!

As mentioned earlier, McKenna was reportedly working on the script of Your Place or Mine since the beginning of 2021. By the end of the same year, she was almost done with perfecting the screenplay. Yet, as the director couldn’t find any suitable actors for the lead role, the project was delayed.

But, after McKenna selected suitable actors for the main role last year, she instructed the production members to scout for filming locations. The director then arranged a meeting with other heads of the unit, took their advice, and reviewed the shooting budget. 

Then finally, McKenna eventually decided to shoot partly in New York and California. Although, it’s important to mention that, the majority of the shooting took place in and around the city of Los Angeles, California. While only a handful of pivotal sequences of the movie were captured in New York.

The principal photography began last year and continued for 8-9 weeks. During this time, no major issues were reported, which forced the crew to halt shooting. The filming schedule remained as planned, for the most part.

New York City, New York | USA

The opening sequence of the film, where we see the character of Peter, inside his office in New York, was actually filmed on location. The production members arranged a corporate office located near the lower side of Manhattan and used it to depict Peter’s office.

Naturally, as the filming was done inside an actual office premise, no major changes were made to the interior area. The production members only mounted a number of high-lensed cameras at different angles, according to the instruction given by McKenna.

Some other important scenes in New York were captured near Madison Square and east-side Bronx. Filming in New York City lasted for three weeks or so, after which the production members moved to the next filming location in America.

Los Angeles, California | USA

So, after the opening sequence and a couple of other pivotal scenes were shot in New York, the production members moved to California. The sequence in the movie where we see the character of Debbie, taking care of her family, was actually filmed in Los Angeles.

The production members used a medium-sized apartment located on the outskirts of Los Angeles, to capture the outdoor shots of Debbie’s home. Interestingly enough, the same property was used to film the interior sequences of the home as well.

Although, McKenna specifically asked the production members to make certain changes to the overall interior look of the apartment, to give it a more homely look. 

The scenes where we see Debbie’s kids inside a play school were filmed inside John Muir Middle School, located at 1111 North Kenneth Road. Special shooting permission had to be acquired by the production member from the administration of the school, before filming.

The remaining interior sequences of the movie were then filmed inside a well-equipped studio in Burbank. The production members then wrapped the shooting process.

The basic premise of Your Place or Mine revolves around the characters of Debbie and Peter, who dearly love and support each other. At the beginning of the film, Peter receives a message from his best friend, asking him to come over to California. The lead actor brushes it off, thinking it must be a joke, like always.

But, as the story gradually progresses, the lead actor finds out that Debbie, his best friend, has landed herself in real trouble. Peter then readily makes arrangements to leave for California. After reaching out, Peter finds out that Debbie has filed for divorce and is living in a separate home with her kids.
