The Plot Of Captain Kangaroo | What Is Captain Kangaroo About?

Robert “Bob” Keeshman a.k.a. Captain Kangaroo from the Treasure Hunt is the host of the show Captain Kangaroo. He used to be called so because one would never see him without an overcoat with huge, pouches–the ones that you see on kangaroos.

Every episode of this sitcom show would be different from the other. Captain Kangaroo would use stories, skits, vaudeville acts, songs, dances, and whatnot to provide education and entertainment to viewers–mostly kids.

Oh, and he was seldom alone in his activities. He was accompanied by his friends– Mr. Green Jeans–the ones who’d bring animals, Dennis, Mr. Moose, and Bunny Rabbit. Each of these people had their unique quirks to offer to the show.  As the show progressed, new characters like Uncle Backwards, came too. Apart from them, actors and actresses would make guest appearances on the show occasionally.

Over the years, new formats were also introduced, some were successful, and some had to be dropped. In the 1990s, after decades the first episode, of Robert Keeshman’s show Captain Kangaroo came to an end.
