But suddenly receives an emergency call from her father, Dennis, who lives by himself in a small house.

Later in the film, Liz reaches to her father’s home and finds him injured! She decides to stay back to take care of him and sort out the mess! The female lead soon discovers the bills are left unpaid and the house is about to be auctioned. In an attempt to repay the mortgage amount, she resolves to fix the family boat, and take part in the annual “Christmas Boat Parade” competition.

Towards the final quarter of the film, the character of Luke Fletcher emerges. Who help’s Liz in fixing the boat and convinces her father to allow her to participate. Finally, Liz along with her daughter Hannah are shown to come up with a surprise party for Dennis, that changes his heart.

The film ends on a happy note as Liz wins the competition after a fierce battle. And hands over the winning amount of $25000 to her father.

Where Was Christmas Sail Filmed? Let’s Know This Heartwarming Film Closely!!

Even though the film, Christmas Sail depicts the story of a Middle American family and is set in America. Director Stacey Harding along with cinematographer Ryan McMaster, decided to shoot the entire film in Canada. The production unit sent a special team to scout the perfect filming locations. Soon, the beautiful province of British Columbia was selected as the final location to portray the Port City shown in the film.

The principal photography began towards the end of 2021 and was completed in just two months. The fact that the filming crew was not required to travel much, propelled the filming process and helped the crew to stay on top of the filming schedule. However, the crew faced challenges with the arrival of the logistics. But immediately dealt with it after effectively communicating with the transport company.

Coming back to the film, without any further ado, let’s discuss where was Christmas Sail filmed, in depth!

Gibsons, British Columbia, Canada

The small town of Gibsons, located in southwestern British Columbia is inhabited by coastal communities. The production unit arrived at this location to film the town where Dennis is shown to live, in the film. But reaching this town was a bit tricky for the unit, as it is inaccessible by road. The filming crew landed at the nearest airport, located in Sechelt and transported the logistics by BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay.

After putting things to its place, the crew began filming! Majority of the outdoor sequences of the Port City, shown in the film, were shot in Gibsons. To shoot the outdoor scenes of the Dennis’ house, the filming crew constructed a make-believe house, which was later demolished. 

Few other scenes of the beautiful Soames Hill Park were shot. The crew then moved to the Wine Garden Waterfront Park to shoot the final sequence that depicted the “Christmas Boat Parade”. Throughout the course of filming at this location, the crew made sure to not disturb the privacy of the locales.

Vancouver, British Columbia

After the majority of the filming was completed in Gibsons, the crew moved to the city of Vancouver. Only the opening shots of the movie, which showcased the former home of Liz and Hannah, were filmed in Vancouver. The filming of outdoor scenes of the city hardly took 3 days! But the production unit had spent a significant amount of time recreating the interior scenes of Liz’s family home. Director Harding used a popular studio in town to render the interior shots, flawlessly.
