Where Was Ghostbusters Filmed? Let’s Know This Action Fantasy Film Closely!
Ivan Reitman directed this iconic film, however, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis equally contributed to the overall success of Ghostbusters. Initially, Reitman came up with the idea for this project, but he was reluctant to write the entire screenplay.
So, after the director realized this, he went to Dan and expressed his idea. Dan was equally excited about the project and decided to join as a screenplay writer. Later, Harold was convinced by Dan to co-write the screenplay.

A number of unique and innovative filming techniques were used in the making of Ghostbusters. Ivan even asked the production members to arrange special pieces of equipment to capture certain outdoor scenes. In order to streamline the entire process, the production members were also asked to get the shooting permits before the filming process commenced. The opening scene of the film, where we see the lead characters doing paranormal inside a public library, was filmed in New York City. The production members filmed this scene inside the New York Public Library, located at 476 5th Avenue, Manhattan.
Other important scenes in New York were captured near Central Park and Hook & Ladder Company. A couple of additional outdoor scenes were captured in and around the city of New York, after which the production members moved to the next filming location.
California | USA
The remaining scenes of Ghostbusters were filmed in California. Not a lot of outdoor shots were captured in California as compared to New York. The production members captured a few outdoor scenes in and around the city of Los Angeles and then moved to Burbank.
All interior scenes of the movie were filmed inside Warner Brothers Burbank Studios. This famous film studio is located at 4000 Warner Boulevard, Burbank. The iconic scene of the final fight with the ghost on top of the Empire State Building was actually filmed here.
