Where Was Into The Woods Filmed? Let’s Know This Musical-Comedy Closely!

The makers of Into The Woods decided to shoot the entire movie in England. However, the director took a considerable amount of time to arrive at this conclusion, for a number of reasons. The production members initially wanted to capture the sequences of the movie, partly in America, and the remaining scenes in the UK.

But after Marshall reviewed the filming locations in the United States, he wasn’t impressed at all. The director then discussed with other heads of the unit, and decided to explore other locations in England, to completely abstain from filming any sequences in America.

Thus, a special team was given the task to scout for idyllic shooting sites in the UK, specifically in and around England. Soon a number of locations were shortlisted, Marshall reviewed them once again and eventually agreed to use them as the backdrop for his movie. The principal photography commenced in September 2013 and was completed within a period of 8 weeks. The filming schedule remained unchanged, as the crew managed to capture the pivotal sequences on time. So, without further ado, let’s discuss in-depth, where was Into the Woods filmed, and find out more intriguing facts about the specific shooting locations.

Berkshire, England | UK

Important to mention that, before the shooting began in Berkshire, the actors were instructed to go through 6 weeks of rehearsal on a sound stage in London. The esteemed actors were then taken to the Angle Recording Studios, which is also located in London, to record their voices. So, after the recording and sound mixing was completed, the production members then captured the opening sequence of the film in Windsor Great Park.

This Royal Park situated near the border of Berkshire and the southern part of Windsor was used to recreate the scenes of the forest shown in the film. The production crew transported only the required logistics to the shooting location and captured the exterior shots of the forest in a week or so. The crew then moved to the next filming location in London and captured the remaining sequences.
