Thus, a special team was sent to Germany and Southeast Asia country, Thailand, to pick up further intel about the sites. While Todd and other members of the unit recced locations in New York. Dresden, Germany
After filming some other vital scenes, the crew moved to the city of Dresden. Which was around 192 KM away from the capital. The production unit filmed the sequence of the film, where Lydia’s former lover Kirsty is introduced. The outdoor scene of the suicide shown in the film was shot just outside a high-rise building, located in the business area of the city.
New York, Staten Island | USA
The opening scene of the film, where Lydia is shown giving an interview to a local news channel, was filmed in the city of New York. While filming the outdoor scene at this location, the filming crew struggled in managing the crowd. As the shooting was done during the business hours of the day.

The final quarter of the movie was filmed in Bangkok. The production unit mostly filmed exterior shots of the market and the beach.
While filming some pivotal scenes in the “Walking Street” of Bangkok, the filming crew ran into, let’s say disagreement with the street dwellers and pr*stitutes! No other shots of Thailand were captured as such for the film. The production unit finished filming at this place in more or less 3 weeks!
The Plot Of TAR | What’s It About
The film begins by introducing us to the character of Lydia, an acclaimed musician, and the first female chief conductor of a German orchestra. Later in the film, Lydia is shown to appear for an interview, where she mentions the significance of females in the music industry.
Midway through the film, Lydia’s stance as a leading spokesperson for women empowerment, gets maligned when, the character of Krista emerges. And reminds the female lead about her past misconduct, by playing an audio tape, which revealed her true evil nature.
Lydia, denies the allegations and ridicules Krista, which forces her to commit suicide. The news spreads quickly and a renowned law firm takes note of the matter and files a lawsuit.
Eventually, other victims emerge, and share their side of the story! Lydia is brought to trial, and later gets dropped as a conductor by the German orchestra. Finally, to stay out of the radar, and to slip out of the media’s attention, Lydia embarks on a journey to Thailand.
She re-establishes her musical career in this Southeast Asian country, as a conductor. The credits roll, as the female lead composes the background score of a video game!
