After acquiring the filming rights from Nancy Thayer, the author of the novel, this film was based on, Hansen began scouting for an ideal filming location. Initially, the director was pretty confused in choosing the potential shooting sites, as she primarily wanted to shoot in America, specifically in Tennessee. 

But, as the production budget was too low to sustain shooting in America, Hansen was kind of forced to explore other options. Thus, after reviewing the finances again, the director finally settled to shoot the entire film in Canada.

Like most other Hallmark films, Nantucket Noel was also filmed completely, in and around different parts of British Columbia. So, without further ado, let’s check out the specific shooting sites in British Columbia, and discuss where was Nantucket Noel filmed in-depth.

Gibsons, British Columbia | Canada

The cozy and closely-knitted town of Gibsons, located in the southwestern part of British Columbia, was the primary filming location of Nantucket Noel. In fact, it was the only shooting location in Canada, where almost all the outdoor shots of the movie were captured. 

So, after arriving in Canada, the principal photography commenced in the town of Gibsons, by the second last week of October 2021. The director wanted to capture the beautiful scenes of the snow-peaked pines, surrounding the coastal town, to present a picturesque backdrop to the audience.

Thus, in order to shoot the opening scene of the movie, the production members selected a small-sized house, located near the Armours beach. Filming permissions were taken from the owners of the property, and then the interior shots were captured. Although, before shooting the outdoor shots of the house, the crew had made minor changes to the front lawn and overall structure of the house. 

Then, a vacant store located near Sa Boothroyd Gallery in Gibsons was turned around by the production members to look like a toy store. The scenes where we see the female lead engaging in a heated conversation with the landlord was filmed inside the same make-believe toy store. Interestingly, after the interior shots were taken, the toys which were used to set up the store were distributed amongst kids of an orphanage. 

Several other shots were captured near Soames Hill Park and Armours Beach. The final sequence of the movie was filmed during the night at Armours Beach, for which special light equipment was used. Filming in Gibsons lasted till the first week of December 2021, the crew then returned to the United States and prepared for the promotion of the film.

Plot Of Nantucket Noel | What’s It About

The story of Nantucket Noel revolves around the character of Christina Antonioni, a strong and independent woman, who helps her grandfather to run a toy store. 

At the very beginning of the film, the benign and sweet side of Christina becomes apparent, when she lets a poor child get a toy for his sister, for free. 

Later in the film, Oscar Bittlesman, the landlord of the store, forces Christina’s grandfather to close the store, for good. As Mr. Bittlesman had already drafted a contract with a builder who wanted to demolish the store and construct a mall in the same place. However, when the female lead learns about the horrible decision, she quickly confronts the landlord and stands up to protect her family business.
