After Tarantino finished working on the script alongside Roger Avary, he began looking for perfect filming locations in and around various states of America. Interestingly, during the initial stage of pre-production, the director wanted to shoot the entire film in Florida.

However, after discussing the idea with other creative heads of the unit, Tarantino later changed his mind, and decided to explore other options. The director then formed a special team and asked the members to scout for ideal shooting locations around the West Coast.

Soon, a number of locations in various parts of California were selected. The director then, visited the potential shooting locations in person, agreed to use them for filming. 

The principal photography began in the third week of September 1993 and continued till the end of November of the same year. During the course of shooting, there were no reported incidents which delayed the shooting schedule, The production members maneuvered through the minor problems and managed to stay on top of the filming dates.

The opening sequence of the movie, where we see the character of Marsellus Wallace, chilling inside his luxurious home, was actually filmed in California. The production members used a luxurious mansion, located at 1541 Summitridge Drive, Beverly Hills to depict the interior sequence of Marsellus’ home. 

A few other pivotal outdoor sequences were then filmed around the same property, to showcase the posh neighborhood of Marsellus. After the completion of filming the mentioned sequences, the production members moved to the next filming location in California to capture the remaining scenes.

Los Angeles, California | USA

The majority of the shooting took place in and around the city of Los Angeles. The production members used a medium sized home located at 4149 Kraft Avenue, Studio City to capture the sequences of Jimmie Dimmick’s home. The exciting sequence of  the “Bonnie Situation” in the movie, was also filmed here. 

Couple of other intriguing scenes, such as the encounter between Butch and Marsellus Wallace and sequences of Zedd’s Pawn Shop massacre, were all filmed in various areas of Los Angeles. The famous sequence where Jules and Vincent visit Brett and Roger to retrieve the briefcase in the movie, was captured inside a small apartment located near 5800 Harold Way.

The production members then moved to the final filming location in California and captured the ending sequence of the movie.

The production members took special shooting permission from the owners of the Hawthorne Grill to film the pivotal interior sequence inside the eatery. This famous California styled diner, located at 13736 South Hawthorne Blvd was booked by the crew for an entire week.

Additional sequences were filmed in various other parts of California, till the end of November 1993. The production members then wrapped the entire filming process and began working on post-production.
