The makers were so impressed by the commercial performance of Ride Along that they decided to make the second installment of this movie. Ride Along 2 was released two years later, however, the original flick was more impactful than this film.

The story of Ride Along is set in Atlanta, Georgia. But you’d be really surprised to know that a number of pivotal sequences of Ride Along were filmed outside of Georgia. The production budget was decent enough to support the shooting process in Atlanta, however, the makers wanted to do something different.

So, instead of shooting all the outdoor scenes of this action drama movie in and around Atlanta, the director asked the production members to search for other filming locations. After a couple of weeks, the filming crew came up with suitable shooting locations in Los Angeles.

The principal photography of Ride Along began in the final week of October 2012 and continued for almost two months. Even though the majority of the outdoor shots of this movie were shot in Atlanta, the production members also filmed some important scenes in California.

The opening scene of the movie, where we see the character of James Payton following a criminal conspirator, was filmed in Atlanta. The production members took special shooting permission from the airport authority before filming this scene outside the terminal.

Other important scenes in Atlanta were filmed near the southwest area of Elliot Street. The production members selected a medium-sized house located near this street and used it to capture the interior scenes of Payton’s family home.

The scene where Payton’s sister appears to be talking with her new boyfriend is shot inside this property. Additional outdoor scenes of Ride Along were shot near Elliot St Deli and Pub. In fact, the sequences depicting Peach St in the movie were also filmed around the same location.

After the shooting process was over in Atlanta, the production members moved to Los Angeles. The majority of the sequences with the famous car in the movie were filmed in and around this beautiful city.

The production members also used a famous studio located in the downtown area of Los Angeles and filmed a number of interior scenes of this film. By the third week of December 2012, the shooting process of Ride Along was over.

The story of Ride Along is centered around the character of Ben Barber, a middle-aged American man who falls in love with the sister of a police officer. At the beginning of the movie, the lead actor signs up for a police training program and gets introduced to Officer Payton.

As the story progresses further, undercover agent Payton takes Barber for a car ride and explains the professional challenges faced by the police officer during their duty. The lead actor, on the other hand, acts immaturely and almost fails Payton’s operations. Barber runs into Payton’s younger sister and gets romantically attracted to her.
