The story of Saint X is set on an exotic Caribbean island. However, the actual filming of this riveting series was also done in America, specifically in New York. Although the majority of the outdoor shots were captured in and around the capital city of the Dominican Republic, but before I get into the details, let’s first discuss what happened during the initial stages of production.
Leila Gerstein was highly impressed with Alexis after reading his crime thriller novel and wanted to make a show based on the same premise. As per reports, Leila arranged a special meeting with the author and expressed her views. After a week or two, the director was able to convince Alexis in giving the filming rights. However, Leila promised not to change the entire premise and keep the original premise as authentic as possible.
Although, certain elements of the story were toned down to make the show accessible to audiences of all age groups. But after the show was released, it was rated as Tv-14 by the censor board. Since Leila promised not to change the entire premise of the show, she asked the production members to find beautiful filming locations around the Caribbean Islands. After a couple of weeks, the production members were able to locate a number of suitable filming locations in and around the capital city of the Dominican Republic.
By the second week of September 2022, the principal photography of Saint X started. Apart from the majority of the outdoor scenes, some pivotal sequences were also filmed in New York during the first phase of shooting. The entire shooting process lasted for 2 and a half months. The production members worked diligently to complete the shooting process within the estimated timeline. Right after the initial scenes were filmed in New York, the production members moved overseas to the Dominican Republic and filmed the remaining scenes in Santo Domingo.

The opening sequence from the pilot episode of Saint X was filmed in New York. The sequence where we see the character of Allison for the first time was filmed outside a medium-sized apartment in Brooklyn. The production members didn’t make any particular changes to the overall decor of the apartment, as the director wanted a simple and minimalistic look. In fact, the sequences depicting Emily and Allison’s other family members were also filmed inside the apartment in Brooklyn.
After these scenes were shot, the production members captured additional outdoor shots in and around New York City, and then moved to the next filming location.
Santo Domingo | Dominican Republic
Sequences from the other episodes of Saint X were filmed entirely in the Dominican Republic. The production members took special shooting permission from the owners of a luxury resort to film the vacation scenes. However, while shooting inside the luxury resort, the production members made sure to only use a certain area of the property. The owners of the resort didn’t allow the production members to use certain areas which were accessible to the other guests of the resort.
The sequences depicting the murder of one of the actors were filmed in a location that was located at a distance from the resort. As per reports, the production members used a secluded beach to capture the sequences of the murder. In fact, a boat was used as well to capture the same scene from a different angle. Additional sequences of this show were filmed in and around the city of Santo Domingo. After all outdoor scenes were shot, the filming crew returned to America.

Plot Of Saint X | What’s It About
The basic premise of Saint X revolves around two American girls who were vacationing on the Caribbean islands. At the beginning of the show, Emily and Allison appear to be spending their holiday in an exotic resort in the Dominican Republic.
As the series progresses, the character of Emily discovers the dead body of her sister jet-skiing. The female lead quickly reports the incident to the police and suspects Alisson’s death to be abnormal. Alisson’s elder sister starts to connect the dots that led to her sister’s death. Towards the final episode of the pilot season, Emily gets to the bottom of the case.
