Where Was Watchmen Filmed? Let’s Know This Action Drama Movie Closely!
As I mentioned earlier, the story of Watchmen is set in Manhattan, New York. But, before I tell you where was Watchmen filmed, allow me to draw your attention to the pre-production process.
The makers of Watchmen wanted to shoot the entire film in Chicago. But the idea had to be canceled for a number of reasons, mainly because the production members weren’t able to acquire the shooting permits for the desired filming locations in Chicago.
The production budget was enough to sustain filming in Chicago, but as the director couldn’t film in this iconic city, he didn’t want to capture it in any other location in America. So, right after this decision was made, the director and other creative heads of the unit decided to scout international filming locations.
A couple of weeks later, the production members came up with ideal filming locations in Canada and then submitted the final report to the director. The locations were checked for the second time, and then asked the crew to commence filming.
The principal photography of Watchmen began in the third week of September 2007 and continued till the second last week of February of the next year. The shooting process lasted for more than five months, mainly because of the harsh weather in Canada.
The blizzards and the snow storms kept the crew from filming the outdoor scenes at a stretch. The production members had to stop filming in between, which eventually delayed the filming process in the end.
