Based on historical events, Shogun follows the story of two men(Toranaga in a race against each other to establish themselves as the next leader of Japan during the 17th century. The story is told from the perspective of an English sailor, John Blackthorne( Cosmo Jarvis), who ends up in Japan with his European wrecked ship.
